ChainReactor 922 Posted August 2, 2014 (edited) Hey there, for you this might be an unexciting, random happening, but for me it's worth sharing since this was my first encounter of this kind. So i was strafing through the woods above Nizhnoye just to check out whats going on on the coast. Had my scoped Mosing with me to check out the village. Just after a few minutes, the action started. I've seen a fresh spawn being chased by a zombie. The fellow survivor had no weapon with him at all. He tried to fight the Zed with his bare fists, but was rather unsucessful, so he decided to hide in a house. Unfortunately, the Zombie glitched through the wall and kept on attacking the freshie. That's when i decided i should help out, since i had a good sight on the fight. I aimed for the Z, and took him down with the first shot. The player obviously didn't expect that and stood still for some seconds. Then he came out of the house and spottet the hills for me, but he couldnt find me. I kept him in my scope to see what he's being doing, but had no intentions to kill him. I think he realised that and made the "thumbs up" animation while spinning 360 to make sure i could see him. Then he dropped his pants ( lol ! ) and ran away heading south. After some minutes of waiting, i decided to check out what just happened and left my position. I found his pants. There was a can of beans in the one and a note in the other pocket. The note said: "Dear friend, thanks for your help. You have my beans sir ! ( literally, lol )" I know this is a rather random story, but i figured it was worth sharing with you, since it was a really statisfying experience to me. Have you ever had something similar happening to you ? Edited August 2, 2014 by ChainReactor
Beck (DayZ) 1768 Posted August 2, 2014 Lol awesome!
archamedes 238 Posted August 2, 2014 this is what playing Dayz to its full potential is all about, rewarding and a clasic plaver to player interaction. Just think how the story would have gone if you just shot him. Wouldn't be worth mentioning at all
Khanarac 252 Posted August 2, 2014 (edited) I don't know. Sounds cool, really, but I'm skeptical that it actually happened. Sound's made-up. A "freshie" as you called him, with nothing on him but a can of beans a pen and a paper? That's almost too convenient. If it really happened, even better. I'd like to be wrong on this. I'd like to be wrong on this.you can find pens and paper in the same room of a building, or at least tear a page out of a book, which seems to spawn in nearly every house you find. Dunno why people have to be so skeptical about everything all the time, I have seen weirder and stranger stuff happen in dayz fraps videos that most probably would have had a harder time believing than this story Edited August 2, 2014 by archamedes

A "freshie" as you called him, with nothing on him but a can of beans a pen and a paper? That's almost too convenient. If it really happened, even better. I'd like to be wrong on this. Luckily you are. I'm not a kid, I dont wank over virtual beans on an internet forum by making up stories about a video game. Also I didn't say that stuff was all he had. I should have called him "undergeared" then maybe. He had cargo pants, a wool coat and a child's briefcase with him. I called him freshie because he hasn't had any basic melee weapon at all, so he can't be playing long with this character. He certainly wasn't new to this game because bambis usually don't do stuff like that. Also, I carry a pen and a paper with me whenever i can too. Notes are fun. Here's one from my personal messing around tours through Chernaurus: One day i respawned and immediately found a badly damaged taloon backpack, but I actually had no interest in serious gaming. I lost my last character to random KOS and i was kinda dissapointed about that. So i collected every single piece of rotten fruit that i could find and put it in that backpack. When I only had one slot left, i wrote a note and dragged it into this one remaining slot. Next i went to Balota Airfield, dropped all other items apart from the rotten stuff and that note. Sprinted right along the runway. You can guess what happened. I got shot at the ATC Tower, because i asked, no, i begged for it. My killer came to loot my body. The note said "Chain's Super-Bandit-Nutrition Pack 3000. Enjoy your meal!" I know this is exactly how NOT to play a survival game. But the imagination of my killers face left me smiling for quite some time, as the fellow marksman who shot me just got rewarded by a backpack full of rotten fruits. And in case this was a complete success, he would have had a good laugh too. I enjoy fooling people and mess around. They should implement a harlekin's hat for me. I love Dayz :) Edited August 3, 2014 by ChainReactor

blazinone 72 Posted August 3, 2014 Recently I spotted a group of guys running out of some town heading in my direction. I dropped prone in a hilly field along the road and hoped they hadn't spotted me. Turned out to be just one survivor running away from about 3 zombies who were chasing him. I realized he needed help so I equipped the Blaze rifle I had, stood up and fired off two shots taking down one of the zombies. I reloaded and shot the other two. By that time he must have freaked out or maybe he had already started to log out because he just sat down and soon disappeared in the middle of the road. In hindsight I should have alerted him first before just popping up and opening fire like that, but I was trying to help!
archamedes 238 Posted August 3, 2014 thing is when you are running from zombies or running in general and you hear gunshots, you automatically think that someone is shooting at you and you return fire. Then the player will get the hump and say "Thats it, I tried to help him and he was clearly a bandit." The amount of time i have heard gunfire for me to run into cover and figure out that the person shooting hadn't even noticed me and was fighting off a zombie. Pvt_Larry (DayZ) 98 Posted August 3, 2014 One time while I was on the outskirts of Elektro I was fighting off a few zombies when a nice man in a gas mask emerged from the shadows and shot them all. He then proceeded to rob me and give me a few sips of disinfectant. He was pretty polite about the whole thing though, I appreciate that.
hombrecz 832 Posted August 3, 2014 Just an hour ago, me and 2 other buddies robbed a dude.We did not harm him, just cuffed, took his SKS, buddy gave him Blaze and I sweetened the deal with 2x cans of sardines. Yes, we robbed him, but I think we were not that bad.I'm trying to say that letting folks live is often rewarding experience as well.
Evil Minion 943 Posted August 3, 2014 (edited) Yes, we robbed him, but I think we were not that bad.Lets call it "forceful trading offer" - "robbed" is such an ugly word.... Edited August 3, 2014 by Evil Minion
hombrecz 832 Posted August 3, 2014 Lets call it "forceful trading offer" - "robbed" is such an ugly word.... Hmm true. He ended up with different rifle, baseball bat (buddy took his axe as well) and 2 cans of food and kvas.I also showed him where is the nearest water pump (It was Novy Sobor), so I guess he was rather new to this game. Given the fact that two of us had loaded AK's and that poor fella just SKS with like 3 bullets, I guess we made him an offer that he could not have refused :-).
