I have problems with FPS and frankly i don't think i should.

Recommended Posts

Like the OP, i also have problems with FPS and frankly i don't think i should. I play on lowest graphics possible in settings and 1920x1080x32 at 100% render resolution. I've also tried the gpumaxframes and other settings tweaks to no avail. I average 30-50 sometimes hitting 80 in the woods in terms of FPS. However my PC tears the crap out of arma 2 and i get around 70 fps on arma 3 on high graphics.

The standalone is poorly optimized. But, right now you just gotta deal with it. But, hey. Its better than a lot of peoples' setup. But, nothing really you can do

Note my sig. and i have problems too brother.

Its based on the Take on Helicopters engine which is, for all intensive purposes, Arma 2+ so basically single threaded. I believe technically its dual threaded but there are issues with the scheduling.

Yeah, they haven't even started doing any client optimisations yet, i have a very similar system to yours and i'm getting about the same performance

Its worth playing around with the in game settings though, sometimes you can get a higher frame rate by setting thing to high or very high as it pushes that task onto the gpu instead of the cpu.

also try this in your startup parameters -malloc=system

that gave me a pretty decent boost.

Thanks a lot. I don't know exactly how much fps i gained but its way better in towns/near houses, feels smoother.

Client optimization takes place generally towards the end of finalizing the game. It sucks because the game would be way more enjoyable even if it is alpha if the game ran a lot more smoothly.

With time as they hotfix other issues and glitches and works towards finalizing the game they will work on optimizing the game much better. If it ran at the same level DayZ mod did that would be awesome.
