Should I buy Arma 2?

I really want to play this mod but I don't know if it is worth it to get Arma 2 just to play this mod. I've heard that DayZ might become its own thing but I don't know if this is true and I don't want to wait for that.

Any suggestions?

Buy ARMA 2 because you want to buy it. Even before DayZ it's always been the best Warsim out there that I have ever played. I'd recommend getting it, but if the genre isn't your thing, don't get it.

I've also heard that you can play the mod with the free version. If your playing just for DayZ it would probably be something you should look into.

It's all up to you, if you have the money watch some videos/streams if you like it buy it.

It's definitely a great mod that's in alpha so expect bugs/glitches to happen sometimes more then they should but yes i say get it but maybe wait till the steam summer sale which should be any day now..

You don't actually have to buy Arma II, you can grab the free version from BIS. You will have to buy the Operation Arrowhead game and use that in conjunction with Arma II free to get the Combined Operations Lite. Going this route is cheaper that getting the CO pack, even with the current deal of 25% off, however doing it this way will give you lower quality textures and no single player campaign that would normally ship with the full version of Arma II.
