Anarki (DayZ) 13 Posted July 20, 2014 It's simple, the loot should be personal, but with a little twist, the longer you survive, the better loot will spawn. I haven't really though very long about this idea, but it could fix few things: 1) Your survival skill will be rewarded. The longer you survive, the better gear you'll find.2) Bandits will be extremely careful and usually won't run around fully geared out. Unless they really are skilled.3) People whining about loot being too easy should be silenced.Negative:1) Would probably encourage more KoS, but fixing KoS issues should be done some other way (wanted status, npc headhunters, etc), this is strictly to encourage immersion.2) Some people might not like not getting lucky with that M5 that just happened to spawn in a septic tank. yogi92 50 Posted July 20, 2014 And then we will have what Diablo 2 had (and I bet D3 has too), namely "taxis". You wll join a group of friends where one or two are maxed out, and they will get you the best loot possible.
LeeVanSpliff 156 Posted July 20, 2014 It'd ruin immersion for me. If I see a shotgun on the floor, I'd like there to be a shotgun on the floor. As with regular shotguns on regular floors, everyone with hands can pick them up. Guess personal loot would also add a lot of stress for the server db. Generating a lot of loot every time a player joins, 40 times as much loot to handle and so on.
Lithium1056 45 Posted July 20, 2014 Issue number one, loot spawns globally not locally so with your system if I've a fantastic survivalist spawning into your server means my loot will spawn for you too.Issue number two, loot does not and should never bind. Not should it spawn bound which is the only fix to issue number one, I don't want to open a door and find some other guys shotgun especially if I've been hoofing around that server for a couple hours.Issue number three. Bound loot means non-loot able corpses you instantly killed 90% of pvp. Immersion and player interaction. Your skill doesn't persist past death, what's say I've been on a hot run, haven't died in days got das uber loot and my cat jumps on my key board while I was near a ledge, I fall I die and now through no fault of my own other than possessing a cat I get crap loot for hours again. FYI Diablo II never had personal loot, it was all about who was the fastest on the mouse :) Diablo 3 had though, so i understand your point. Played the shit out of the second, but the third was just to big of a pile of crap to bother :) @OPNo way mate.It doesnt belong in a game where global loot economy will be a thing. People need to see the same stuff and fight over it.And like you say it will pretty much only encourage more killing, because it will be the easiest way to get gear. In a game like this we should all have the same chance of finding everything and the only reason its far to easy to find stuff atm, is because we have no loot respawn mechanic yet, so admins restart the servers once every hour so people can farm the crap out of it.That will all change once a proper loot respawn mechanic is introduced. Banning steam accounts for those who KoS ? Edited July 20, 2014 by General Zod
Mullraugh 1151 Posted July 20, 2014 This is already in the game. The longer you stay alive, the better loot you find. You don't see a new spawn with full military gear, you actually need to spend time to get it
