Handcuffs kill you?

So.....long story short. A friend handcuffed me, he went to look for a key and I was tired so I told him I was getting off and he can uncuff me the next day. Okay, next day comes and I log on and I spawn as another character...

Its meant to prevent people logging when they get ambushed and caught, I don't really see the need for it since we have the logout thingy where our chars stay in game for like 30 seconds after we log out. Hopefully they remove it, its not really necessary anymore.

    They have it because the captor wouldn't know if they were logging out for those 30 seconds. Since you can't sitdown while handcuffed. So the character that's handcuffed would just disappear after 30 seconds.

Ah, thought the 'logout with handcuffs on = death' was before the logout timer. They could tweak the animations or something rather than have this immersion breaking punishment, it would be pretty interesting to have to wander for days trying to find a key.

Yes, What other people have said is when you log out while handcuffed you die, My and my friends learnt the hard way when one of them was disconnecting  XD Ah fun times being filled 75 bullets by a other friend, oh very fun times.. :')
