What exactly do i download?

Recommended Posts

Im a bit confused as to what im suppose to actually download.  I see Dayz Epoch, Standalone, Dayz mod and probably a few im forgetting.  Ive been watching videos of Dayz for a few months now and am ready to play.  Can someone also explain the differences in these as well, as far as i know some have vehicles and the others dont??  Im sorry if these are dumb questions, i just got a capable computer today and not sure how to get playing dayz.

Standalone = Better graphics, gunplay, less KoS, better physics, better everything

DayZ mod = Basebuilding, vehicles, more features, ugly a** graphics, only KoS

Standalone is the paid, early access Steam-version.

DayZ Mod requires ARMA2 which is also paid.

DayZ Mod is probably more complete at this point, you'll probably want to try that first.

Download DayZ commander to manage all the diff mods

Correct, for the ArmA2/CO DayZ modification although DZC may have some problems at this time (correct me if now fixed).

Alternative new boy on the block (site may be unavailable due to WIP)...

DayZ SA can be found on the Steam Store...

Me and a few friends recently reinstalled and have been playing the mod again. My friend had a lot of trouble with DayZ Commander so we're just using the Steam version of the mod currently.

DayZ Standalone: is the standalone, full game, currently in Alpha, available as Early
Access on Steam.

DayZ Mod: the original mod for Arma 2, concieved by Dean Hall, and now being further maintained and developed by the community. Also referred to as vanilla at times

DayZero, Epoch, Overwatch, Overpoch, Lingor, Falluja, Taviana, Takistan, Origina etc, etc: basically mods of the original DayZ Mod, some for Arma 2, some ported to Arma 3. They expand on the original idea and usually add what the creators found missing from the original mod.

Yeah thats the Standalone. Enjoy it and good luck that it meets your expectations, because player's expectations is the main reason people come back here and start complaining.
