Frame rate issue

so last night i started playing epoch for the first time, it took ages to set up but got there in the end. everything was fine and running at a smooth and constant 40-45 FPS. i came on this afternoon to play a bit and now its running at 7 fps and is unplayable as its always stopping and starting. ive messed around with the video options but nothing has helped. it also cannot be the problem of a busy server because its quiet and no one was on hat the time anyways.

 

any help would be appreciated

but 

 

try another server fps can drop if the server isn't regularly restarted or its having a bit of a fit. if its still doing it on a low pop low ping server then it could be a lot of different things 

first check your hd for errors and defrag
