Is seeing players, glide across the ground while prone or crouched hacks or just desync?

Recommended Posts

Ive been playing on a server and 3/4 people are gliding everywhere. I can still hit them but doing so is very hard.

Any insight?

Is that WarZ in your signature?

people are gliding everywhere.

Can you elaborate on that?

I don't believe its hax as Ive seen my own son doing it and he sits on his PC nearby sometimes when we team up so I believe its just desync and it usually sorts out after a few seconds and or when that player changes weapons.

Lol yes it is.

Like ill see someone in crouch position or prone, and instead of walking or crawling, they just slide across the ground. One dude even had the dead animation and was sliding towards me.

That is the game trying to figure out the actual position of the player as in opposition to where he is on your screen. It can very well be, that he has changed his position already, though you  didn't see them get up / update in time. The server then updates and tells you their actual position, though they appear to have died already, causing the shift in position.

The out-of-sync / desync issues causing the position-update are due to the server being under heavy load (as all DayZ Servers are at the moment due to limited optimisation) as well as possible ping-issues.

It's not lag. It's some kind of a bug when you play on stable with the experimental client or vice versa.

Happened to my friend once. Dude was laying in the unconscious position while sprinting around and he could aim and shoot without the animation changing.

Hmm, that might just be it.

I've seen a similar thing happen in battlefield 4, the person skydives is stuck in the animation but their gameplay is totally unaffected. Similar thing again in skyrim.
It seems to happen with a lot of games

Is there an ETA for the 64-bit server/optimization patch yet?  I heard it was done a while ago and just needed testing.
