Hit 'em when they're down?

Recommended Posts

I've been experimenting in game and scouring YT for examples of hitting with fists or melee weapons while Zeds or Humans are in a "knocked down" position. Does it continue to deal damage?

I've yet to see this:

-Punch Zed in the head...it drops to knocked down.

-Continue to punch(axe, etc.) Zed in the head while down.

-Either sustains enough damage to "die"  *or*  gets back up(animation)and immediately dies.

They always take the multiple head poundings while knocked down then stand up THEN seem to take damage and die.

I am not 100% sure on this, but I suspect it's a matter of the damage actually being applied, but the animation not being interrupted, which is why they're proceeding to stand up and immediately tip over.

Sounds plausible.

I just feel that 3 direct axe hits to the head of a prone Zed deal little or no damage, as they nearly always stand up(animation) and begin cycling attack. Only seem to die at *next* head damage.

I've taken to letting them lie while knocked down and ready myself for my next attack.

In my experience, when you punch or whomp a zombie's noodle while he's down, he will die when the final damage is done, meaning if he's still prone or in the middle of getting up, it'll play its death animation.
