Melee option with guns

Recommended Posts

It's absurd that you cannot pistol whip a fool or smack someone in the face with a but stock / bayonet when they run at you.

Yes, using weapons without a bayonet should provide slightly higher damage than your fists. Bayonets also need to do a tone of damage, because if you have ever seen a Mosin Bayonet in real life, you will know that once you get poked with it, you are screwed.

Bayonets and weapon based melee are obvious features this game will have.

Bayonets especially, considering they're in game.

However we won't be able to use them until they revamp that part of the engine because there is currently no effective way to switch a gun to a melee object and start using it that way.

Agreed, I would like to stab a zombie in the head and then step on it to pull my bayonet! Maybe not every stab but have some of them stick ;-)

That would be awesome.

Or stab them through the neck with a Mosin then blow their head off.

Maybe they could add that as like a take down move if you sneak up on them? (shooting being optional)

Things like that would be cool since it's gonna be awkward to aim at specific body parts when zombies are running around.

I think for bayonets to work they also need to add the function to push zombies back for a nice stab to the gut.

I hope it's not just a horizontal slice they're going for same as how you dig up worms currently but also a forward stab is going to be awkward to aim.

Perhaps they could assign the H or \ keys to switch from firing to melee mode and vice versa? They're nice and close to the AWSD keys and so far as I know, unused.

Left click swing/bash, right click stab. Bashing potentially damaging the weapon.

Hell yeah, you know exactly where I am going with this! Kill moves if you are able to sneak up! Of course they will need more zombies but it would be awesome.

Wouldn't it be awesome if we could stab zombies through the back of the leg and turn them in to crawlers? That would be funny, just leave like 20 of them crawling around some place for people to find.

Perhaps that could be offered as a less weapon/bayonet damaging take down.

Gun with bayonet should be a very versatile zombie killing weapon in my opinion.

Since you'll be giving up the option to add a suppressor you'd have to be prepared to get up close.

It means I can finally drop those heavy melee weapons.

Should work like Red orchestra 2.

Middle mouse button bayonets if no bayonet is there you smack with your butt.

Slightly more damage than fists? A smack with the butt of a rifle will wreck a skull man.

Weapon melee should be handled by a hot key not a function change. Would function just like any other FPS/TPS let's day "lalt" with no melee attachment you swing the butt end round and whack your foe, with an attachment a solid jab forward, which of course also pushes your foe back a bit, with any luck you kill your target assuming it's a zombie, massive bleeding for players is implied bayonets are normally not cutting tools the exception being modern combat knife/bayonet configurations. They were designed specifically for stabbing this allows the user to impale the target and follow up with a killing shot.

Melee vs. A player without a bayonet should only knock a player out. Two to three blows from the from one from behind with pistols one regardless with rifles and the sawn off shotgun ( I say tho because programming the shotgun in two ways for direct damage seems like a tricky proposal, as you can saw off any shotgun, unless it registers as a different item when you saw the barrels off)

Not only does a hot key provide quicker access to melee but it doesn't leave you defenseless against long range targets during the switch

This is a must-have feature! Non-bayonet guns should hit hard with buttstock causing knock-out and the bayonet should cause serious bleeding. ;)

Breaking Point used to lack this feature and it'd make it a nightmare to deal with the zombies sometimes, once they added melee to the weapons added it made combat far more dynamic and interesting

Yeah this would be really cool, punching people with your buttstock etc

This would be so cool in a prisoner situations. You make someone surrender to you. Maybe he shot your friend, or tried to kill you. When he's sitting there with his hands on his head and praying for his life. Then you hit him with your buttstock so he gets unconscious and then you handcuff him. Grab him with the new carry animation that we totally will have in the future ;), and put him on the back of your pickup truck and drive away to camp where you keep him hostage.

yeah but who's gonna stay online if he's cuffed. I mean the chance of surviving (real one) from that situation is usually none. They gonna shot you anyway at the start or in the end.
No point of staying online in this situation.
