I dont have a problem with hardcore.. difficult is fine, it motivates me. What doesnt motivate me is when I die without having any chance to fight back or when I didnt make any mistakes. (There are the bugs.. ok, this is an alpha.)

Stary Sobor.. Im prone, checking the hills for snipers.. I crawl around.. YOURE DEAD!

NE Airfield.. Im watching the damn airfield for 10 minutes, no movement no zombie spawn. I move from one bush to another.. YOURE DEAD!

NW airfield.. its night, again Im checking the sw bushes for snipers.. Im sitting in a bush myself in fucking DARKNESS.. YOURE DEAD!

no idea if those were snipers or hacking snipers or guys with thermo googles and NV stuff.. playing like this is completely pointless, no fun at all and a waste of time.

shootouts with assault rifles, pistols are fun.. REMOVE sniper rifles and NV thermo optics.

till then Ill play something different.

do you find the flaw in your logic ? I was there to obtain said military grade gear.. but guess what I cant get it. I played for 4 weeks.. I never found any of that magical gear, because I dont hack or server hop.

my point is.. the mod or even a standalone version in the far future wont work because people will stop playing sooner or later. It will be a niche game with empty servers sooner or later when the hype is over.. it is necessary to change the weapon/equipment balance.

You were outplayed. As simples as that. Before you chose to have a nice lie down and a fag someone saw you running to where you were. They hunted you down and head shot you with a high power round. Instant death screen. This is not your normal shooter... Get some overwatch and don't stop anywhere for very long without cover. You would be better running sometimes. Snipers find it hard to shoot a zigzagging runner.

Don't move around too much, unless you need to move quickly, then stand up and haul butt.

DO NOT CROUCH WALK OR CRAWL! Snipers have no problem hitting slow targets, and when you move you reveal your location VERY easily. I've spotted people just from a backpack waving on a hill. I never seen the person, but I fired just below the waving pack and scored a kill.

Also, Ghillie Suit. Chances are you won't see these guys, even my friends can't see each other. Funny as hell listening to two people try to find each other when they were just following one another.

Do you see the flaw in YOUR logic? You're clearly not ready to go and contest these places. You're proning around hunting for snipers when you don't have the equipment to deal with them.

Here's a hint: Grab a team or go on a low population server and be ready to die. I've died in Stary three times, and lots of times at NWAF. If I raid alone, aside from a brief survey for bodies and common sniper positions l try to move as quickly as possible without firing a single shot. I don't have the equipment to take out a sniper and he'll see me before I see him. So what can I do? If I still want to raid the place, logically I'd try to find the easiest places to snipe from and avoid being in that area's line of sight for long. Get in fast and get out fast.

That's all you can do and even then be ready to die.

Actually, i would like to know how the game changes with the removal of the m107/as 50 and maybe the DMR, cz can stay. The l85 also, or add the l85A2 without the thermal.

NVG, cal 50s and the DMR should get killed for good.

I use a cal 50 myself and its just ridiculous. I shoot persons in their hands from 700 meters away and they instantly die.

NVGs are self explanatory and the DMR is just too good. Its semi auto, highly accurate, 20 rounds AND WORKS WITH NVGs. The worst thing about the DMR is that its not even REALLY rare because its standart military grade loot.

I've only insta-died from a sniper once in my 40 hours of play time. It was when I spawned back in on the hills overlooking Stary Sobor. Got capped within a couple seconds. My fault. I will never again log out it a hot spot if I can help it.

As others have pointed out, you take a chance when you're in/around the NW Airfield and Stary Sobor. This is where the most well equipped players will often be found.

when people stop playing the mod and you have your 6 servers.. do you really think Bohemia will pay Rocket to improve it ? Bohemia wants to create a product which can be sold in the long run.. no players - no day z. very easy.

I didnt say anything about PvP.. I just said: Remove the sniper rifles and NVG /thermo crap. I know this will hurt the campers but will improve overall gameplay.. a 700 meters one shot kill without any risk for the sniper who doesnt even have to fear zombies ? thats not balanced.

Why are you obsessed with these places? Why not hit up the huge amount of deerstands the map offers? Why not spend more time scoping out these high-traffic areas before entering (its not uncommon for my group to spend around 10 minutes surveying hills/good sniper locations before entering)? Why not check out firehouses/NE airfield?

Why complain when the entirety of your problems can be resolved down to a single variable - you and the methods that you take in attempting to get better gear?

Like the guy's signature on here. Do NOT get attached to your stuff. You will lose it, you will die. It may be due to person, zombie or glitch, but you WILL lose your stuff/life.

Personally, I spent the first 4 weeks of playing this game sneaking around Bereznio. Only been to the NWAF twice, and when I go there it's to find a group or person, and follow them to their tent city. (no success so far :P)

well, you can find all sorts of good stuff in the beginning in elektro, just be sure not to exit the city to the north or go to the north fire station, snipers really like to sit there (why? no idea)

just dont rely on that miliary stuff at the beginning, being greedy and without patience you'll die pretty quickly

Killed 2 dudes at stary this morning from 700m away with my AS50. Easy stuff.

They were in the middle of nowhere, crouched and one was even sat there with his binoculars out. Easy prey.

You need to steak the place out for a good 10 minutes, listen for gunshots or check for anything moving. Normally, if there's someone there, and your far enough away they'll trigger the zeds to spawn. Kind of a cheap way to see if someones in the area, but it works.

I wouldn't go anywhere near Stary without binoculars, and a rifle or sniper rifle. Unless you have no gear at all and don't mind being shot.

Enter through the tress either from the north, south east or west to have the best chance of concealment. Ideally have 2 overwatch snipers to cover you from both sides, and a rifleman to go in with you.

I totally disagree about taking any of the NVG's or sniper rifles out. They should add more in if anything, but cut down the chopper spawns.......every man and his dog has high end gear now!
