so my pack is full and I'm sorting through my gear, and I hear footsteps and there's a guy there.  he looks like a new respawn and hasn't moved to attack me, so I type 'hey', and I'm about to ask him if he wants some of my gear.  then I decide 'nah I'm tired I don't wanna type all that' so I put 30 bullets into him.

I gotta buy a headset soon.

Albeit your post comes across quite arrogant, I see your point if you're not trying to be.. you do need a mic man, its sort of essential in dayz.

 

If you can talk, you should have a mic. 

 

But you did the right thing.. fresh spawns should never care about dying unless its over and over again. Then it sucks, but if you get shot like that once just suck it up and respawn.. its easy when you're fresh. Its tough when you're alive for 80+ hours of gameplay and geared to the nines with stories for each thing you carry.

It was working like ever.

Press "/" which is next to right shift and type.

With "," and "." you used to change channels, but it no longer works in DayZ (still works in ARMA) except when you have walkie talkie,  with fitted battery and turned on, then you can select radio channel and speak to it.

nothing beats to sneak up from behind on a guy that is sorting hin ammo/gear and when ur real close u scream FRIENDLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

No mic. No life. It's 2014, if you don't have a mic, then BLAM. I will not wait for them to respond. If they don't respond in 3 seconds, they're dead, no matter what.
