I can confirm they are but i think they are only in the west side of the map. Or atleast not the north east.

Agree with NinjaTurkey, animals are definitely spawning. I hacked a wild boar to death with a fire axe yesterday just outside of Kamenka in the SW corner of the map. Have also seen deer (? certainly wasnt a boar but didnt get a good look at it) between Gorka and Polana in the Central part of the map.

Surely that should be not within 1000m of towns? Deer an boar don't tend to come close to human habitation if they can avoid it.

 

But yeah, I saw a zombie chasing an animal just outside Lopatino earlier today. Didn't see what it was, but the zombie caught it and beat the shit out of it before it spotted me from 100 miles away behind a bush.

I have found animals at the following locations so far:

- NE of Novy Sobor (Cows, Deers)

- NEE of Gorka (Cows, Deers)

- S and SE of Veresnik (Boars)

- W of Pustoshka (Cows)

Surely you haven't been to Central Texas. The deer and feral hogs are absolutely within 1000m of towns. Most cities ban hunting in city limits, and guess what, all the deer remain in the city limits. You can drive through neighborhoods and see herds of deer sometimes up to 30-40 thick. Obviously, this isn't the case around the world, but the critters go where food and water can be found, and with all our lush landscaping in the middle of an almost desert, inside cities is a very popular habitat now.

That's fair enough comment. And although Chernarus isn't a desert, I guess it's still likely that animals would venture into deserted towns. But for the game to restrict their presence to only within close proximity of towns seems a bit bizarre to me, given all the suitable (and quieter) habitat available in the playable area.

 

I also think the fact that players and zombies can run down wild animals and batter them to death needs fixing - you would NEVER get close enough to a deer or a rabbit to do this, and a boar would probably go aggressive and batter you to death if you threatened it.

I have yet to find any wildlife > 1-2km from town.

*haven't seen ANY since .46.

Maybe intended to mitigate server load. A herd of deer in a pasture 15km from player population is wasted load.

I saw a zombie chasing a deer a few clicks north of Berezino.  I did kill them both and tooks some meat off the deer.  It seemed like there might be a bug since the deer kept producing 50% steaks.

It's the same in Iowa even though we have streams everywhere.  No hunting in city limits means deer run through most neighborhoods.  They know a safe zone when they're in it.  We tend to have foxes in place of boar though.

 

Back on topic.  There is a whole heard of cows just SW of Pustoshka.

I almost always see deer from the stand in Veresnik. It's close to the unnamed military base, but does that count as a city?
