Roshi (DayZ) 397 Posted June 29, 2012 In an effort to enhance the authenticity/realism... Would like to see an animation where you put thhe backpack on the ground in front of you to open it. This means to access your pack, and the shit hits the fan, running off leaves the backpack on the ground. You either have to run and ditch it, maybe to return later, or take a stand to keep your goodies. It's pretty hard to get that can of beans out of the bottom of a backpack when it's on your back... killroth 9 Posted June 29, 2012 this would be cool if backpacks didnt dissapear half the time you put them down:) otherwise i like it or make the packpack have a couple pockets you can reach and rest make your pack have to be taken off
zak757 146 Posted June 29, 2012 1. Put your arm around your shoulder2. Push your backpack over the opposite side of backpack3. Turn your head in direction of side4. See inside your backpackNo. Using your backpack on your back is definetly possible, and I could think of 1000 better things to spend time on developing. Duckman404 37 Posted June 29, 2012 Yup, sure, I love the idea of putting my ALICE pack on the ground every time I want to grab something from it, then watch it disappear or be unable to be picked up...
DemonGroover 8836 Posted June 29, 2012 Maybe they just need an animation like is done for bandaging when you open your backpack. One that takes time to do.

I suggested using the drop backpack movement would be work because it doesn't require much more than what is already possible. There are as you rightly point out many things that require more attention but this is a novel suggestion, doesn't seem like a difficult implement and i thought perhaps in keeping with some of the smaller tweaks Rocket has been implementing in recent updates e.g. tweaking bandaging sounds, etc the muck around with the feel of the mod.If it doesn't gain approval - no problem. SystemiK 366 Posted June 29, 2012 Sure. And if you want to eat some beans then you have to place your pack on the ground, take out the can and place IT on the ground before you can start using the can opener on it. Now, where did I put that spoon? You know, sometimes realism just for the sake of realism is not benefitting the game in any way...
Zeromentor 169 Posted June 29, 2012 No thank you.(Other players have explained why not, I don't intend to take up more space restating it)
Ninjutsu 1 Posted June 29, 2012 Not a fan personally. There is a limit to realism in games imo. Soon we will need toilet breaks too.

Womb Raider 92 Posted June 29, 2012 No.I don't want to have to put my backpack on the ground, every time I wanna grab something from it. That is not fun at all and would result it many deaths and because Day Z is in an alpha, it would be glitchy as.
