DayZ Arma 2 Requirement - Help

Recommended Posts

So I just bought DayZ not knowing about ArmA2 at all. I loaded up the game and I played on it. However the graphics were very bad and all the text was blurred.

Is this because I don't have ArmA2?

Anyway if it is, should I get ArmA2 Combined Operations (will it work with DayZ after I have already downloaded it) or have I messed it up and wasted my money.

Please Help

What did you buy?

If you bought DayZ Standalone there is no need to have ARMA 2.

Sorry I'm new to the game and I don't want to spam but is DayZ standalone better or worse than DayZ Mod or are they the same?

Sorry about this

DayZ Mod is older, developed for longer time, more features but buggy, because it's based on buggy Arma 2 engine. It's not "so actively" developed, but many individual modders work on it.

DayZ Standalone is relatively fresh (half a year), major work in progress, lots of bugs and much less features, but is actively developed.

If things are blurry on your screen then go to game's video settings and turn the BLOOM down, that's for sure. And generally, try to play a bit with settings. Should help.

A lot of my friends still play DayZ Mod (DayZ Epoch), because of the mentioned majority of features compared to the standalone and because the standalone at its current state is intended to be for people who want to actively participate in the development process, i.e. by reporting bugs etc. in the DayZ Feedback Tracker.

If you would like to play DayZ Mod, you could buy ArmA 2 Combined Operations or, if care very much about high quality textures. If you don't mind them missing too much, you could instead just buy ArmA 2 Operation Arrowhead via Steam and install Arma 2 Free, typing the following command into your webbrowser:

steam://install/107400

That way, you save a few bucks and pay by having no HQ textures. Honestly, I don't really care about them so I did it that way. ;-)

Johnny
