What a great way to get into DayZ! :D As for embedding YouTube vids, just copying/pasting the URL (which it appears you did) should do it; works for me, anyways. Not sure why it didn't work for you.

Use the square brackets instead of the round ones in this example:

 

(media) YT website address (/media)

 

with square brackets:
