gianni001 37 Posted June 27, 2014 Hi guys, So recently ive been havnig a fun time with flares n such on night time servers and really loving the immersion, im not very up to scratch with programming and renders and such but in the future will the dayz crew be able to do anything to stop gamma exploiting? I know in a mod I play for Arma 3 the devs have basically hung up their boots on the subject as they are just roadblocked. just curious if anyone knows that this has a possibility of being addressed? hefeweizen 254 Posted June 27, 2014 They haven't said they won't fix it, but they haven't put forth a plan for it like they seem to have for every other bug. Hopefully the new renderer will open up some avenues they currently don't have in order to fix this problem. My thought on the subject it to just make things unrealistically bright outside at night. If you can see at night without jacking up your gamma then there'll be less of a reason to exploit it, light sources could still be useful for searching inside dark buildings. If peoples only choice is:A. Use a gimpy flashlight that can't be used as a melee weapon and puts a giant "Kill me" sign on my back.B. Jack up my gamma orC. Find a daytime serverthen nobody is going to choose A.
SniperwolfMR 153 Posted June 27, 2014 No, it won't be fixed. At least it won't be in the next year. Who needs night time in a zombie survival horror game?
Red_Ensign 990 Posted June 27, 2014 find daytime servers. think of it as roleplaying. if zombies were really wandering the streets, I doubt you'd be going outside at midnight with a road flare or feeling your way around. :-)
foxdie_01 121 Posted June 27, 2014 problem is Dayz is TOO dark at night, there should be at least some ambient light from the moon and stars which doesn't really exist. Until this is included the only option is to up the gamma to navigate. I mean upping the gamma doesn't really give you awesome elite vision at night were you can organise crack hits on players from great ranges. It merely stops you running against a low fence without realising you're not moving for 10 minutes. < true story.
