Rushing a sniper in Cherno !!!

Recommended Posts

What is the best approach to rush a sniper in the south west area of Cherno?

I finally have an AKM and have circled around the north part of the city and can't seem to locate him.

What ever position this is it must be golden because I have been sniped and many others from that magical spot, I can hear the shots and see the "... was killed" in the text console roll out.

I'm assuming its at the south west factory but I'm cautious to approach the building.

Any suggestions?

Artillery that shit...oh wait.

You would have to clear out each building, assuming he is in the city and not outside. Also keep in mind a good sniper is probably moving his spot at regular intervals.

This is probably too late, but for future, survivor help.

Personally I would just avoid a fight when you're in an immediate disadvantage such as this. You're going to have to get lucky and stumble upon him. Chances are he is server hopping between moving his vantage points. If he is a legit player and you suspect him in a building, throw a flare inside so zombies 30m away aggro it. Step away and see if it flushes him out from your own vantage point.

Edit- this is for future notice. Seeing this thread is older

Thanks for the advise guys. I ended up sneaking in from the easterly most part of the city. At first I thought he was on the top of the factory (or one of the smoke stack railings) but it appeared he was in the large grey wear house/factory just northwest of that smokestack factory. I waited around outside and could hear him firing ( with reverberated echo) but I was too scared to rushing in firing as I believed he would have an advantage as I've never entered that building before. After about 15 min of waiting (in silence with no more shooting) at the rear entrance I decided to bail on the in town anti sniper mission.

I doubled back to the north of the city and low and behold I see 2 guille suited snipers getting into position just north of the hospital buildings, no doubt preparing for some easy pickin's. I was too excited because I had the drop on them from further up the hill 100m and they did not see me. A zombie wandered into their position which I thought it was strange for a zombie to be so far out of town, after they dealt with the zombie, one sniper stood up aiming into the city and firing..

I fired a couple carefully aimed single shot rounds and was quite sure I hit him, he hit the deck prone. and I fired a couple more akm rounds at him. I came barreling down the hill to try and profit from the surprise but over shot their position. I lost track of the second sniper and spotted the first on prone about 20m above me on the hill he still did not see me so I commenced to fire repeatedly at him and saw his body twitching or convulsing on the ground (but never saw the sniperx was killed text????, an no bandit killed or murdered score!!) His friend who I could not properly locate in the fray opened up on me with a silenced automatic weapon and I was killed almost instantly. I realize now I was hasty and unprepared in my assault.

An exciting end to my sniper hunt but am still confused as to why that first sniper did not die, I certainly pumped him full of 7.62 rounds at least a few times, I hope he didn't disconnect. But anyway he got a little lesson :)

Nice story - shame about the result. I'd say you got a disconnecter ther too.

One thing to remember when engaging a sniper - running at them in an evasion pattern (unpredictable moves right and left) makes it very hard for them to hit you at close range. When you are close up you will dance in and out of their crosshairs, forcing them to swap to their side arm.

Also - when you've got the drop like that with an AK, full auto is the best way to make sure.

Like a true PvP enthusiast sniper 1 probably disconnected, as soon as he was in danger.

Items needed:

Ghillie Suit

Rifle of your choice (BAF AS50, CZ550, DMR, M14 EP1, M24, M107, SVD CAMO)

Some stones

Camp the treeline, moving your position back walking the inner treeline every now and then (don't walk the outer edge for obvious reasons). and just watch the city for movement assuming your target is in a building watch all windows doors, building sides. If your target is a good sniper, he'll be doing exactly what you're doing so watch your back (or the next thing minus the barrel sticking out as hell be a few steps back), if he's bad he'll be holed up in some tall building so watch rooftops/towers for a barrel sticking out.

If you can't find a sniper rifle and want to run up on him, try to find his location and sneak up behind him, taking the long way around but keeping an eye on his location and taking note of movement patterns and direction; or just run at him doing zigzags (I find strafing and aiming the same direction makes a quick sharp turn, so I'll usually do this strafing left and right)

Or get a smoke grenade/flare/glass bottle and toss it to his location and let the zombies eat him.

Thanks guys,,, this is golden advise!!! The zig zag method especially.

I believe I will dedicate my time on Dayz to hunting the snipers who prey on the weak and newly spawned.

P.s The more I think about it the more I believe that dude must have disconnected (there is just no way), and at the end I was sadly pumping bullets into a digital avatar shadow.

Our group the other night had a sniper in the Firestation taking pot shots at use while we were int he market with an Enfield. We ended up having 3 of our squad lay cover fire, all with AKs, while the other 3 of us circled around him and stormed the building. If you have an idea of where the shooter is, or can get the shooter to stop firing with mass firepower like we did, then run in and stop them from taking people out. We have had times where the group just avoids conflict as a whole, even though we have numbers on our side, if somebody has a vantage point, it isn't worth losing people and supplies over you know.

By this I assume you mean he logs out, joins an empty server, repositions, and then logs back in?
