GamerGaming 77 Posted June 23, 2014 I have a DayZ Overpoch server and am looking for people who can help moderate my server or help script it. Element47 2481 Posted June 23, 2014 there is one piece of advice i can give you, as it pops to my mind everytime i read such requests. dont recruit mods from outside. build a community around your server, and recruit your moderators out of achieved and respected community members. otherweise you end up with the wrong people as mods, and this can often kill a community completely. source: i've run online communities since it involved dialing through a V.22 modem into a BBS to be part of one. OrLoK 16188 Posted June 23, 2014 Hello there I have to agree to some degree as "hiring" folk you don't know for such senior positions is fraught with danger/problems. Its far better to entrust these positions to those with whom you've built up a relationship over time. It might work out well for you and indeed I hope it does. Chroma 61 Posted June 24, 2014 The last people you want as mods are the first people to volunteer. THIS!Very much this!If someone is begging to be opped hes up to no good ;)For moderators and basic admin jobs, hire in-house.As for devs (a far more scarce resource) id make a sub-forum on your servers forum (if you dont have one, get one stat), looking for technical suggestions, advertise what you're looking for and allow a place to put forth ideas and suggestions, play with people in game, build up a rapport and then move to hire/promote/demote (depending on how you look at it) from there. The sheer volume of coders and admins I've worked with over the years on servers has been a very mixed bag, even people who seem trustworthy oftentimes have their own very different agendas, good help is extremely hard to find!So getting to know someone before either of you gets into that position is wise ;)
