Act III

Will DayZ become a horror game?

Recommended Posts

I still want my walking dead zombies, slower but threat in numbers. They are scary when they catch you off guard, but most of the time they see you from afar and just run towards you.

I really don't care whether this game ever gets a horror title, I don't think it needs it. Its a survival game, sneaking around unseen. You should sneak up on them, not vice versa

Dude id even be happy with the Dawn Of The Dead Hybrid remake models. There needs to be more variety. These ones we have now are class 1 infected at best still in tip top shape hardly any wear and tear on the bodies. Battle scars from past fights are almost none existent. Even the clothing for being out in the woods for months is to well maintained and clean looking still.

I know its not top priority as its alpha but its going to be even more glaringly noticeable latter on.

I searched through the forums looking for similar topics, with no luck.

Night time servers would be sweet if everyone didn't turn their brightness and gamma way the fuck up so they could see perfectly and completely kill the atmosphere.
Also, there's about 50 24/7 DAYTIME MAD LOOT KOS N' HEROES WELCOME ALL DAY HAHA 30 MIN. RESTART servers for every one server that actually still has night time.
I even joined a supposed 24/7 night time server only to be swindled as it was actually...a 24/7 day server. *sigh*

I'd love for the DEV's to add some sort of gamma lock; that'd really make this game a challenge. If that were implemented, coupled with NVG's being introduced to loot tables (very rare of course), we'd start to see a real shift in the gameplay, at least at night. In the day time your average group of 4+ geared bandits are a nightmare for those who aren't as well off but during the night all it takes is one mosin and a pair of NVG's and that same group is suddenly a victim of the fear the put in everyone else.

I don't think it will be a horror game. It will have tense moments, that's for sure. My most intense moment was when I just started playing, it being night time and I was laying on top of a silo at the factory outside of Solnichniy. Looking in the direction of Solnichniy I see two lights and hearing gun fire, for all I know they're shooting zombies and I see a third light, that disappears quickly after it has been turned on. Sure, the fellow that turned it on could just have turned it off again - but given the fact that the shooting didn't stop I am pretty certain that he or she was shot. The only problem is that the two lights starts heading the way towards the factory, luckily for me - they never bothered to look on top of the silo. But I wouldn't say that the game instills me with the fear and/or paranoia to the amount that I think is required for it to make it a horror game - then again that is highly subjective.

This is impossible, becouse you can increase gamma from graphic card settings, while not even touching game settings.

Oh trust me, when player stamina will be introduced (so we can't run in infinity) game will get a lot scarrier.
