Revisiting player. A bit confused and would appreciate help.

Hey all,

 

I put hundreds of hours into the Arma mod and bought the single player at launch but found it too buggy for me to play personally.  I understand it's Alpha of course so am not here to complain.

 

I recently had another look in game and it didn't seem to matter which server I went to (I tried probably about ten), I seemed to have the same problems on each one.  Namely:

 

* No to very low loot spawning.

* Zombie chase noises randomly and regularly with no zombies anywhere near me.

* Very, very few zombies anywhere.  I mean perhaps one in a whole town and when it saw me it didn't move.  I finally got a zombie to chase me and it seemed to be lagging and juddering rather than chasing me.

* I couldn't get my crowbar/wrench to swing in an attack to save my life.  This may have been me missing something obvious.

 

Just all in all, it felt very much the same as when I bought is 6 months ago. 

 

I would put this down to it just being alpha, but I've seen people streaming it on twitch with minimal apparent issues.  So I thought I'd come and ask if there' something I'm doing (wrong version etc..??) or if this is just how things are right now.

Loot spawns, server was probably up for a while and well populated. There is no respawn of loot (yet), so when the server is up for a while the loot reduces.

This is a known bug that isn't fixed yet. 

 

* Very, very few zombies anywhere.  I mean perhaps one in a whole town and when it saw me it didn't move.  I finally got a zombie to chase me and it seemed to be lagging and juddering rather than chasing me.

 

Zombies are not in the numbers in which they will be yet, once a bunch of server-side and network optimizations are done, the number of Zs will be increased.

Raise your weapon, by pressing spacebar. Then wing it ;)

Didn't you? It was a good deal!

Anyway, it seems to me that you should choose a server with low ping and not too full to wander about a bit without too much stress server side (that can cause you to lag) to check the game and learn some basics :)
