Dyeing (clothes / backpacks)

Recommended Posts

I'd really like to see dyes in the game.

Found that yellow "here-I-am-please-shoot-me" check shirt?

Well...

Put water in a pot

Put a dye in that pot

Put the shirt in

tada

A black check shirt

Applicable to nearly all clothes (no rain coat i.e.), all backpacks (incl. crafted) and also the burlap sack itself.

What do you think?

I like the idea. It would be a step forward for customization. As for where to find dye, piercing a spray-paint can and pouring/spraying the contents into a bowl effectively makes dye. Therefore no need for any new 'dye' loot if it were implemented.

But we could only dye in black / green.

While this is tactical so most useful - it's not always the most funny :)

Since the spraypaint is already in,it is not that much of an efford to add diffrently colored spraypaints...

Would love to see this.  Would add a lot of customization options and help for stuff like group identification and creating a more unique character in general.

The majority of players seem to grab the clothes with the most slots, regardless of looks.  For those types this would be a nice addition to encourage them to actually differentiate themselves.  As it stands, the result is nearly everyone ending up in camo gear.

You are just in the need of RGB colors and black white, since you have a percentage you can adjust how much color you add.

actually, if only red and blue cans were added then you have all colors. red, green, blue, black, and white could be handled by bleach/disinfectant, or justified by how long it was boiled.

Additionally for code's sake, alpha channels.

Well, I don't know how rendering / syncing expensive it would be to handle free color combining ...

Simply syncing the name of the skin to load is likely a lot easier, also once loaded, it is loaded. With free combining, the game had to load the color everytime someone gets into your syncing range.

I don't think it needs to be so complex that we can make any colour just the basics.

No need for rainbow coloured sets though they would be FAB.

Red and blue spraypaint should be fine, I'd love it if they added that so we could have red and black guns etc etc also.

There's not really that many clothes I'd want to dye to be honest, except maybe mountain backpacks.

Just green and black would do, when we get bases have a black and a green set for each time of day. Awesome.

Red and blue if you want though have fun being a walking target.

Perhaps people could have blue clothing to signify themselves being heroes/police(or lie about it)

This is already been talked about and is more than likely going to be a feature down the line.

Where? I couldn't find it via search and it was not on the list of already requested stuff.

Dean Hall talked about it in an interview and brought up Skyrim as a reference. I can't remember if you could dye clothes in Skyrim, but I do remember you could in Fable. Maybe he meant Fable and said Skyrim or maybe you could do it in Skyrim and I just can't remember doing it or having the option. I did play it on console which might have somthing to do with it as the PC version is worlds apart in functionality.

Look for Dean Hall interviews or Twitch streams and eventually you'll stumble onto it. Maybe it was at Rezzed during thew Twitch interview? Can't remember. When I get a chance I'll check my bookmarks as I bookmark everything I can. I do need to add notes to bookmarks though for times like this.

I think this could be a very nice but simple addition, expand on it later if you'd like, kind of like putting camo on a mosin. I'd like the abality to make my character look more in the way I feel like I'd like it to look, it adds more of a this is mine sort of feel and make your character unique.
