Spawning in 99 seconds...

Recommended Posts

Hi ! Sometimes i join a server without looking the time because i prefer to play during the day so when i'm joining a night time server, i have to change server.

Sometimes, i can join instantly another one, and sometimes i don't and i must wait these 99 seconds + the please wait indeterminate time.

I just don't understand at what time there are these 99 secs waiting time. How can we dodge that ?

Apologize for any english mistake, i'm still learning :)

You don't. That's the purpose of it. It's so people don't ghost you or serverhop for loot.

It's the point of it. But I've still been ghosted on. Admittedly, not as much as back in the mod. But it still happens. Half the time it only prevents me from playing the game after being kicked or the server restarting.

Won't change. The community demanded measures against serverhopping and Ghosting and here it is. Atleast for the time being it will stay like this, until a better solution is found.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want it to change. But they should implement a system for the cool down to be 30 or less for people who were kicked off a restarted server or kicked by the admin.

Or find a way to have an inmate rape anyone who decides to hack, as soon as they hack.

This happened to me recently:

DayZ stopped working - restart the game - spawning in 99 secs - indefinite "please wait" - DayZ stopped working - restart the game - spawning in 99 secs - session lost - spawning in 99 secs

Needless to say, that sucked major donkey balls

Worse is when you get stock at the "please wait" screen after all that.  The experimental servers have been really bad lately...

Yeah, they really need to differentiate between kicks and user disconnects. It's not fair that someone can be kicked by admin and then have to wait for the cool-down period before they can connect to another server.

I've had this too, one of the reasons I've stopped playing at all

I didn't want to make a thread about it as I'd only be accused of server hopping

For example I left a server after the population decreased from about 30 to 5 and had been on the server over an hour, would then get 99 seconds like you said, but over and over

Or when I've joined the wrong server trying to meet with friends (as the server list moves when refreshing) I've had to make them wait a good 5 mins while I keep re trying to join the server

It's also happened when I've tried to join a server after not being able to find the same one after a restart

It doesn't seem to happen to everyone, but some people I've played with a

Have the same problem, but others don't at all

Worst thing is, they confirmed I was standing in the game once "please wait" appeared Indefinatly so I can be killed this way

Those timers suck ass. I know why they were implemented but it really pisses me off when I try to join servers and get disconnected (etc.) and then I have to wait (again) until I can join. Also I have gotten stuck when timer hits 0. Then reconnect and timer starts all over again.

Step 1: Find server to play on all the time. One you know is okay to play on pingwise and such.

Step 2: Join friends using Steam rather than the Server-Browser.

No Problems to be had, if you follow the above. You will learn what time it roughly restarts at as well as it not being overly laggy / kicking you out from time to time.

If you join over Steam you also don't end up in the wrong server, that way you don't have to retry joining the servers indefinitely ending up in the wrong servers.

It's very unlikely to be happening to you all the time, and if you know you hit the "Please Wait" screen, then don't try to connect immediately. The time is only 99 seconds, you can easily go do other things in the meantime.

I understand that it's suboptimal at times, when restarts happen. But it's not 5 minutes and more anymore, so there's no reason to blame the devs, as you shouldn't be as unpatient as waiting 99 seconds. There's always stuff to do, that takes about 99 seconds. Get a drink, go to the toilet. Watch this:

Timer has been reduced? Thats good news. If 99 sec's is the max, I have no complains then.

And yes those steps do work when you found those servers. But sometimes there are too many/few players on those servers and you try to find the one that suits you atm.

Also I had 20 servers on favourite 3 months ago. Now it shows 3. I really need to find more good servers that won't close.

I don't think they reduced the actual timer. I've been counting and it's more or less the same as it was, only the timer starts at 99 and then just says "Please wait" for the rest of the time your dummy is still hooked in the previous server.

My opinion - even the timer is bugged. :)

Yeah, they really need to differentiate between kicks and user disconnects. It's not fair that someone can be kicked by admin and then have to wait for the cool-down period before they can connect to another server.

Only problem with this is if the server admin is you or a buddy of yours you can be like, "Hey, kick me, I'm going to jump to another server for some loot, be back shortly..." At least server restarts have the 90 second or whatever cool down time after you've been disconnected so the client (and server) should be able to differentiate that, and with it's built in timer (so long as you wait it out) you should be good to go to log back in or into another server. is it me or do I notice a lot more servers cropping up at night USA time - perhaps for this very purpose?

I think that would be too easily exploitable.

I hate the current method but I think this would be easier to get around then what we currently have.

We're sorry to hear that Curt. Just dont do anything rash now XD

One thing Ill say though is 10mins is way to long to wait. I just go play another game when I get d/c'd etc cuz im not waiting 10 mins to play a game I bought.

Hope its been nurfed by now though.

It's like George Carlin said, "Red lights are great! Its like a time out. Eat a snack, have a drink, tune the radio, scratch you balls or roll a joint."
