Shimmler 4 Posted May 15, 2012 The new level has added more tension IMO' date=' especially in Chernarus. I stocked up on supplies and found a hiding spot well away from zeds and bandits, so I made multiple runs to get resources. After getting literally everything I could out of centre of cherno, I was on top of a tower offering covering fire for anyone entering chernarus from the east/north areas. After killing a few zeds to clear the way for 2 survivors, I looked down at the bottom of the factory/tower I was on, only to see about 20 zeds waiting for me. I was well and truly stuck up that tower...[/quote']I think you're mistaking the name of the country with the name of the capital. It's Chernogorsk ;)
darkliberator 2 Posted May 15, 2012 I love the zombie count, but the spawn times need to be increased for them.
-=Grunt=- (DayZ) 0 Posted May 15, 2012 I agree. Respawn times and them literally spawning almost beside you needs to be changed.
orbital 10 Posted May 15, 2012 I have to vent off after my first spin on 1.5.7Installed, log in and find my self on the southern beach??? - last I logged off I was at our camp far north. Then I get knocked over while stepping over an obstacle (ARMA bug), lost some blood - enough to make the nearby zombie aggro and preforming another perfect K.O., eaten alive.Run 3 clicks back to my corpse only to get a server restart - Lost gucci gear including my 2nd pair of NVG's...Continue north to Berezino where I ace my way silently thru 2/3 of the town collecting all the essentials - only to have a single zombie spawn right in front of me.Running dry on bullets, blood and entertainment value - I decided to let DayZ rest...Now I'm really exited; what direction the next patch leads? Can the total apocalypse be evaded, whether my teams tents and fuel leaking chopper gets a more persistent respawn after server restarts, if my TS buddies can cheer me back up and last but not least, when the mailman delivers my D3 game.I'm sorry, it's been a really bad day for me - Don't know what is happening to me?Damn you Rocket, you sure know how to make a MOD that stirs up a lot of emotions :D
masek 0 Posted May 15, 2012 I would like to share this:Last night, a friend and I decided to loot Pustoshka after the new patch. I warned him that if we shot in this city, we would certainly be killed. There were so many zombies roaming around it was scary. After a few flares and careful proning, we made it to the street next to the church. We spotted a lootable cabin down the street so we decided to stop there first. I stumbled out at the wrong time and was spotted by a zombie. I was forced to shoot it and alerted more zombies. We holed up in the cabin and thought we could hold them off, but we found out quickly that wasn't going to happen. We wanted to get back to our gear somehow because we thought he had pretty good stuff. I won't go through the entire story about how we got it back; but without amount of zombies roaming it would not have been nearly as satisfying. My friend - who said he hated the new zombie respawn time - described the experience as "exhilarating" and "cannot believe we did it". But he's a full blown pussy, so...I'm curious about respawn time of the zombies as well.
statistx 5 Posted May 15, 2012 After playing, i can still support my former statement:Zombie count is ok, respawn should be adjusted, small villages should have a high chance of lower zombie population, since it also has lower reward of good loot. Also i feel that Zombies during the day have way too high attention.I sneak and stay close to cover, but they still got me a lot of times, even when i try to distract them with throwing stuff in another direction first (which they barely went after too)Currently nighttime with full moon, or dusk/dawn seems to be a lot more fun to play
dgordonid@yahoo.com 1 Posted May 15, 2012 I would not call the new zed count "awesome". It's interesting, perhaps even entertaining. I would prefer like many others some sort of "in the middle". While this was an unforeseen accident of the bug fixes, I think there is ample opportunity to learn from this and find something a bit more balanced.
statistx 5 Posted May 15, 2012 Yeah, i'd say it is an alpha experiment and trust the devs to find the right way in between.
raptorak 2 Posted May 15, 2012 The zombie count is fine, it is the zombie "suddenly popping out of nowhere, or in your face", and the fact that EVERY settlement has them. It should be possible to find barns, houses and deer stands without zombies every once in a while.
Jamesbiff 4 Posted May 15, 2012 They really need to balance the numbers based on risk and reward, having a brick load of zombies in smaller settlements where people are gonna go for their beans doesnt make a lot of sense, whereas having them in droves around the cities and airfields does. Its going to get a little stale knowing that the zombie numbers are the same everywhere, and that going for a tin of beans is as dangerous as going for an m16 assault rifle, there needs to be a balance or youre gonna see banditry sky rocket. I already hunt players for food now, far far easier to do than go into cities.
sirfluffkillington 1 Posted May 15, 2012 I love the masses of zombies, don't mind having less but the terror factor of having to deal with 20+ of them going nuts on the airfield was pure adrenaline yum-ness.
Evilsausage 87 Posted May 15, 2012 Me and a friend traveled to Zernogorsk or whatever that capital is called. Just to see if there was alot of zombies. My god I could see zombies walking everywhere in there, we could only sneak in the outskirts of the city. Overall i like the new amount of zombies. 800 might be a tad too much on a server. but 500-600 seems like a good amount. I thought it was way too few before. Now its really hard to survive. kittythepwner 1 Posted May 15, 2012 The zombie count is good, I wouldn't change that, but the spawning could use some tweaking. I've seen zombies spawn close to our position while we were looting the place up.Played with my friends and decided that it would be better to sneak in and grab some supplies as we probably would have used way more ammo killing the zombies than we would have got from the loot. it adds more to the game when you have to think that is it worth killing the zombies or just sneaking in and out. magnumx70@gmail.com 2 Posted May 16, 2012 Indeed the zombie count is good......problem is the respawn time.....Yesterday we got spotted by zombies and forced to run into a house, we killed about 30-40zedsall quiet....few steps out of the house 15 more respwan 1 just in front of me and we startall over again... :huh:We did make it out alive but not much bullets left and the loot was shit!Kinda not worth it all that trouble for a pepsi :P
zachary 0 Posted May 16, 2012 Heres a user experience from someone who only bought ARMA II just a few days ago. I had patch 1.5.6 to begin with, and yes I do remember running around big towns, even ruled the centre of the major ones on my own with very few zombies to threaten me. I was able to loot everything and often got shot by other players, simply because I was the only thing to shoot. I was ecstatic when I heard the new update had more zombies. I joined a server with my brother who also just had to purchase the game after seeing me play for just 10 minutes. We had printed out a map to try to gain where we were and used the HUD hint for when you spawn to identify where we are. We use the coastline for direction and shadows often throughout the map to slowly creep around small towns and meet up, we found some loot from some bodies, most likely good players who died simply from the shock of how many zombies there was. We got a few clips, some food and a CZ rifle with some bullets. We worked our way towards each other and then headed off into the hillside. We hit small towns, often surveying the land and seeing what was inside. 8/10 we avoided the towns because they were overrun. We had one or two encounters in the woods with a zombie or two but stayed hidden for the most parts, often spending 30+ to sneak through an infested town. We found some loot but a hunting knife allowed us to kill and cook some cows. We had great fun sneaking around the town. We got to Panela I think it was and began to enter it as we tried to take out some zombies on the outskirts (with a louder than expected gun) and were low on blood and health. We looted an apartment and the Grocery store, got loaded up and headed back out. An encounter with a raging zombie forced us into a house where we unloaded our hoardes of ammo into about 20+ zombies who heard our fire. We held our ground and moved out of the town. Low on supplies again now, we needed to get out of the town and keep moving to our target somewhere up north. We lived for about 5 hours until a server connection bug caused a zombie to kill my brother somehow as the zombie zipped around the screen, next minute my brother is hurt and then dead the next. I disconnected mainly because I didn’t want to carry on our adventure without him :( We played smart and we played well. We are by no means military personnel, we are simple IT Geeks who love zombies. The game is not broken, just a work in progress and I welcome every update. I would like a way to take out zombies silently, either some more guns in the towns that are silent, although we have just realised that the several crossbows we found could have probably done the job. This is the only thing I want to see really. Some kind of silent weapon, a baseball bat perhaps, however with the current zombie combat system (they do jerk about a bit) I think this would cause a lot more frustration as I doubt anyone wants to get close to the zombies regardless of the situation. Something else is needed to tackle zombies quietly. That is the only feedback I have! To the Devs: Looking forward to seeing more of this great game, hopefully I’ll be sending the dev team an email soon as I have skills which may contribute to the development of this great mod. Keep up the great work. Best Zombie game ever.
Maizmo 0 Posted June 25, 2012 the amount of zombies in the city is awesome but in the little settlements in the wood its just a nightmare. i followed a road and on the right was 1 house with a little "box" on the right. and there where 8 zombies. thats no realistic. what are they doing here? there is nothing. 2 or 3 zombies at a hunting stand is nice but 8 zombies at 1 house somwhere in the deepest woods is not realistic. otherwise love the new LoS of the zombies (but they still can walk through walls, fix that asap pls ;) )The zombie count is fine' date=' it is the zombie "suddenly popping out of nowhere, or in your face", and the fact that EVERY settlement has them. It should be possible to find barns, houses and deer stands without zombies every once in a while.[/quote']Totally agree. zombies should not be able to spawn directly near u. i once found a barn with only 1 zombie. when i cam out there where about 5 of them. make the player radius where zombies are not allowed to spawn a bit higher. because its just ridiculous if u`Re fighting 1 zombies and suddelny out of nowhere a ton of other zombies come and rape u
