So how soon before the first DLC? And what effect will they have?

DLCs - will they happen and if they do will they ruin the balance of the game?

117 members have voted

  1. 1. Will we see paid for DLCs make an appearance in DayZ?

  2. 2. If DLCs do make an appearance, will they ruin the balance?

Lets judge them on their actions not on our paranoia.

If we are to judge on their actions, then perhaps we could look at the precedent of purchasable DLC for Arma3. I am not trying to pile on the hate, I've been very clear about that on this thread, but it's the very existence of that purchasable DLC that had me create this thread. That and the logic of how to generate revenue from those who have already bought the game.

Yup, they have made some good cash but have they all turned into Baron Vladimir Harkonnen? I think not.

Oooh, look at you and your obscure Dune references.. ;)

Uhm no they won't make a DLC anytime soon until they fix the game and add everything in making it complete, then they still won't add it because there's already so much to do on the game already, if they tried making a DLC for it people will just make better mods that adds more instead of paying money for it tbh.

Hello there

I really see no issue with a paid DLC.

IF one were ever to exist.

Its not like they would hold content back to sell as a DLC.

I see nowt wrong with the way they do things.

I cannot envisage the guys and gals ever releasing a Pay to Win DLC, its just not how they are wired.

Rgds

I don't think we'll see DLC for DayZ. I mean, a new map would be nice and all, but the original Chernarus took years to develop and the team are still working on improving it for DayZ.

We may as well be going on about BI's Kitten slaughter program.

No need to get defensive .. I was implicitly praising BI by mentioning EA.

If you read the thread, a few people were saying they'd pay for new maps. That's what I was responding to.

The thing is, this is a game in progress with lots of features and items still to input.

When do BI put a cap on what they believe is enough content for a 'completed' game for which we've already paid for.

So for any extra features, items etc who's to say we haven't already paid in advance for them by buying the alpha?

As far new clothing, weapons and items, either everyone gets them or no one does otherwise some people will be running around with invisible guns as the person who hasn't brought the DLC won't have the content installed for the new items so you won't see them and your game may not recognise them.

Ok, well to answer the OP's question  , not any time soon.  Beta doesn't even start until the end of the year at the earliest.
