energeticsheep 95 Posted May 25, 2014 Yep! That's part of the risk that we all have to live with in a game where vehicles are persistent. Camouflage netting and lockable structures would work wonders in adding a layer of protection. Not to mention the always fun game of hiding your vehicle anyhow.Hopefully, in an ideal world, the update for cars would come along with base building (or base building would come out in an update close to cars / vice virsa)
gibonez 3633 Posted May 25, 2014 Please give me auto-run so I don't feel like im coming home to log onto a video game to hold the W key for several hours without alt tabbing That is actually a very reasonable request. Surprised it has not been added yet. An Auto jog key would work out fine but I would imagine it would not be too useful if a stamina system gets added. FrostDMG 398 Posted May 25, 2014 It's a video game, stop trying to turn it into an ULTRA realistic game were you have to manually fucking blink your eyes and dig for oil just to keep a car in maintenance. Vehicles are the best thing to happen to a player in Dayz, it's not a fun experience running 10k so don't even dare try and say it is. Really? Why would you need to run 10k in a straight line... Like EVER? You usually go between towns and meet players or avoid zombies, I can only imagine running diagonally across the map would be a solid 10k run... In the mod you could use the steam overlay trick, but if you went afk there's a high possibility of getting shot... I don't even know why people complain about running. If you don't find the game interesting or don't have time for it, simply don't play it. Nobody's making you...

Vanilla dayz should make cars insanely hard to maintain or even find yet like real life insanely easy to destroy. Cars should be insanely rare people should not sprint, or jog everywhere they should walk like people in reality do.
rickyspanish 158 Posted May 25, 2014 Vehicles are unimportant really. Most of the games travel should be done by foot.Even when the game is completed.I agree, everyones screaming for vehicles expecting to use them instead of footing it. In the mod my group used them for storage, emergency base relocating and night time insertions (headlights out) cars were a death trap to be in at day because they are so easy to spot, hear and ambush. My group always preferred moving on foot, rather than just nipping to cherno in the uaz anyone want a lift? Bs

When did I say 1000 cars, When did I say it shouldn't be hard to maintain them? When did I say cars should be common as Beans? If you seriously want the game to go in the direction of walking everywhere you may as well buy Rockets next game which will be a hiking simulator with no 3rd person. Walking everywhere simply makes sense. even 10 working vehicles across a server would be too many.
FrostDMG 398 Posted May 25, 2014 Ahhh 3rd person brigade... Everything is now clear.

energeticsheep 95 Posted May 25, 2014 I'd say 2 vehicles per server, not including Bikes and Motorcycles. Both of the vehicles should be damaged and require you to find the parts and bring them back to the car in order to get it working.

Two vehicles is a ridiculously low amount for a map the size that it is.
energeticsheep 95 Posted May 25, 2014 (edited) It stops people moaning.. And to be fair, I can travel the map (from South to North) in about 30 minutes non-stop running, that is as long as I don't encounter anybody. EDIT: Obviously, when new maps are introduced there should be more vehicles (or less, depending on the size of the map) in the map. EDIT: Obviously, when new maps are introduced there should be more vehicles (or less, depending on the size of the map) in the map. That seems extremely fast. Thats probably because the movement speed was slower in the mod and the lack of any sort of stamina system.
energeticsheep 95 Posted May 25, 2014 I was once at NW Airfield and had to meet a friend at Balota, I made it down to Balota without any disruption in about 15-20 minutes.
