Can I run Dayz Standalone well?

Recommended Posts

So I'm new to PC gaming and my friend has shown me DayZ SA. I'm going to build a pc. Specs:

-Intel Core i3-4130 3.4 ghz dual core processor

-MSI B85M-G43 Micro-ATX motherboard

-Corsair Vengeance LP 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory

-Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

-EVGA GeForce GTX 750 1GB Superclocked Video Card

-Sentey GS-6010 Plus ATX Mid Tower Case

-EVGA 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply

-Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

I picked the parts that I did so I can easily upgrade down the road. This is about at my price limit (excluding peripherals). I was wondering if this could let me max out DayZ and get 30fps+. If not, can you recommend any upgrade for about the same price or tell me what fps to expect?

You're also new to search functions, it seems.

But yes, that PC is suitable.

To answer you question:

It will run it at an okay/decent level. If you plan to play mostly DayZ, stick with Intel and upgrade your CPU, and then GPU (that is, if you plan to upgrade at all).

This game is brutal to run on high settings. I just spent a nice chunk of change to upgrade to an FX8350, 990 MB, Crossfire 2 R9 290's and add liquid cooling and more fans. I can keep it above 40 FPS, but eventually it starts to sound like I am in an enclosed room with a hovercraft. It looks amazing, but I don't think it's worth burning my machine to the ground to play that way. Beyond that, most of the action is up North now, and Berezino doesn't seem to be that taxing. I looted Balota last night and ran right up through the apartments into Cherno and continued up to Elecktro and only saw two players way off in the distance.
