how did you start playing?

Recommended Posts

its been a week or so of playing on and off..

i have the basics downs but, i log into empty servers to loot to help me survive.

i watch all these videos of how people interact with one another and wish i was already at that point.

so, im thinking would i be a stronger character and person if i log in new and never look at where im at or go to places i know has great loot till i happen to come across it?

vs. going to a place i know has clothes and food and still not be able to think fast enough what key stroke i should use.

how did you start the game?

I saw a lot of LP Videos on youtube. So I already knew much about the gameplay.

The first time I just went looting in Elektro and got shot some times.

I think that was a quite normal start as a complete n00b.

I ran around like a noob and got killed a bunch. had a blast. Then my roommate got helped out by a geared guy, showed him some stuff and where to loot. My roomamte showed me and since then I just go to the high loot areas when a freshie and then just sorta explore once geared.

I used to start out by gearing up on lightly populated servers, but I just began to find it incredibly boring incredibly fast. You end up in a very solo world when you go about things that way.

I have much more fun fresh spawning now in a full server and just dealing with the madness - though I will say this has gotten me shot in the head with no provocation MANY MANY times :P

I started the game by dying...

To the rest of your post: Knowing where to loot and what to loot is important. It's a survival game after all. So look up video's or go explore on your own with a map. You'll get better eventually.

As too playing with other people, maybe you should try joining a clan or make your own with some friends. You could try walking up to strangers and talk to them, but I can't guarantee that you won't contract a serious disease called Lead-In-The-Head.

as a new player, id suggest you should go only on full servers, and just hang out in svetlo or berezino or wherever you spawn, and get to know the town, and how other people play,  then if youre still alive after a while, just work out a town you want to go to inland, work it out on dayz db map or in game map, and just go there, you will soon start to recognise whats what, what can spawn where. and how to play. it will all come natural if you just play , its quite simple when you get to know it, theres not much to learn really, just try not to die

I spawned and died about 20 seconds later to an AS50.. - I didn't hear the shot only the sound of the bullet..

I started out running inland, far far away from the coast. I found things like the radio tower, a castle, etc - but I didn't see many people. It took me a while to figure out why and how even though I was way on edge out there there's typically noone out there and it's rather safe. Then I learned a bit about the coast, figured out how to get my bearings and use the sun to navigate.
