Blern 70 Posted May 26, 2014 This all would'nt even be a problem if splitting ruined ammo just was not working. Then most of the time you couldnt fire any ammo, for most of the time its all ruined. Those long respawntimers are damn stupid, aswell as not being able to loot your corpse. Seems like you haven't thought about that concept for 20 seconds. Otherwise you would know that groups of players would be able to ignore that mechanic. The solution is rather simple as people stated: 1. Spread out spawnpoints. 2. Ruined ammo should not be splittable. Also the reason why people are focused in on berenzino is that there is no diffrent type of loot at the North West Airfield. That means there is no reason to go there, when you can just serverhop* and loot NorthEast. In the Mod we had unique loot at North West Airfield, making people travel there from every part of the map. Also we had crashsites with unique Loot. The crashsites we get in experimental still have the same loot as militarybuildings. Unfortunatly they ruined the possiblity to spawn at the southcoast because they made balota too valuable. *the fact that there are countless of rather empty servers that allow for quick and save NEAF looting also contributes to the emptyness of the inland.Ok, now you think about this for 20 seconds: Does your clan or partner really have enough inventory slots for all your gear? Is it really smart for you to sit and guard a downed member's body for 20 minutes after or during a firefight? No. I'm not so much in favor of giving clans an edge anyway. Why should they get to hoard loot among themselves and just sit on loot until a killed player returns? Losing a clan member should have an impact. You lose his loot too. Lose too many members, and you can't hold your position.
Khanarac 252 Posted May 26, 2014 (edited) And why would you need all the gear? 80% of it is ruined. All you need is the primary weapon and some ammo for it. Anyone can spare some food and bandages, there you go. And if you read my post proberly I never stated that groups SHOULD have that loothoarding advantage, but they DO have it. You misrepresented my argument. Your suggestion is not thought through properly and would cause major frustration to all the players, its a bad idea overall. Why would anyone who has a job bother to play a game that he cannot access for 2 hours when he died? Its nonsense. And why would you force groups to log into other servers just so that the other guy can join them again? What is "not allowed back on the same server" supposed to mean anyway? When I die, am I forced off the server? Now how stupid is that? When people get better at this game, they'll use the "hide body" function more often. There you have your permandeath. And if your team can recover the corpse, you're lucky man. And there is no way you will ever manage to prevent a team from recovering their comrades gear. I, atleast, cannot conceive a feasable way. What I can conceive however is some bonus for long survival. Minor bonuses like...take less time to bandage, higher chance of finding fruit in bushes, higher chance of catching fish and similar stuff. If there was a system inplace that would actually value your CHARACTER instead of your GEAR, that would change everything. After all, its the knowledge and skill what makes a survivor a valuable member, not necessarily his equipment. There could be stuff like when you take gunshots, you won't heal up to 100%, but only 90% by yourself, unless you get treatment by a doctor (who would be a player). /EDIT: upon rereading your response, I can't tell what you wanted to say anyway. You shot yourself in the foot. Basicly saying that if your team camps your corpse, they take considerable risk. Which is an argument against your suggestion of implementing a new mechanic to punish the dead guy. Edited May 26, 2014 by Khanarac

I believe it has since been dismissed as a viable solution. The 'hide body' function is great, but not every player is killed at the hands of another. We see all these blood smears in the houses. I'm thinking a good solution now would be to have a killed body dragged off and eaten by the zombies, leaving the iconic blood smear. If you want your gear back, you have to find it or fight off 3-5 zombies as a fresh spawn. I like adding more realism. Perhaps instead of some of the classic fiction books, there could be skill books that allow you to learn better bandaging, finding edible berries/roots/etc, better crafting. You can only heal yourself up to a point, unless you find someone with a higher medical skill level or study on your own.
jdizzy 15 Posted May 28, 2014 Maybe allow one inventory check for dead bodies then have it disappear, i.e. you shoot the guy check him his bodie goes poof after one inventory check. So basically like Dark Souls? It would be better if it was one check and if you die before you can reach it, it dissappears.
