RpTheHotrod 1 Posted June 27, 2012 ...wearing in the zombie apocalypse, of course! DayZ is a great idea overall and a creative mindset outlet. Anyone out there have some actual "DayZ" gear in the real world? If not, what would it be, and why? Would you prefer lightweight gear for maximum agility? Extra protection? Traveler, or fighter? Here's my zombie fighting setupSurprisingly enough, it's actually pretty easy to move around and doesn't weigh me down much. I've walked around for 8 hours straight and never felt any weight strain, at all.Coat to keep warm...check.Full body protection...check.Face mask to keep infected blood away...check.http://img835.imageshack.us/img835/9536/logante1.jpghttp://img204.imageshack.us/img204/6940/logante4.jpghttp://img821.imageshack.us/img821/8494/logante3.jpghttp://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/207/kidsn.jpg/http://img585.imageshack.us/img585/1217/logante7.jpghttp://img12.imageshack.us/img12/7595/logante5.jpghttp://img576.imageshack.us/img576/6229/facerg.jpg

Sure it's uber "tacticool" and such, but this isn't an all out war, it's survival. What you want is uberpractical and super indiscreet. For example, just like in Dayz, a real zombie apocalypse is going to cause a lot of unrest. Other people are going to be your biggest threat. In Dayz, if you're wearing civilian clothes with a patrol pack and a winchester you're not going to be an unusually large target. However, if you're wearing a ghille suit with a silenced weapon, you're going to have an immediate target over your head. Sure, there is "optimal", like you are saying, but optimal is not what you'll be finding. The outfit up there is put together to be very makeshift and worn and used up, as if everything was found and scavenged. Notice all the rust, wear, and tear. Nothing is new and shiny. If you survived an apocalypse, you'd find anything you could to survive. If you're wearing civilian clothing, one bite or scratch and you're pretty much screwed. If you have some gear on, even having a group of zombies on you, you'd have a chance at fighting them off. They wouldn't be too bright. My outfit there is rawhide. Really rough stuff. Not only are you zombie food, you're easier to SPOT, and I don't think your "friendly" clothing will save you from a bandit. That said, /agree that OP's gear (wile cool looking) would be shit. Also, body armor underneath your top layer.

The teeths in a wild meat eating animal has sharp long teeth to be able to penetrate skin and hair. The human teeth doesn't need to do that because were plant eaters so to speak. It's many centuries ago we needed to be able to penetrate skin and hair. ( monkey time )
