Does the Binoculars have a x20 zoom or something?

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure about you guys but the binocs seem to zoom in kind of ridiculously far. I can sit on top of the mountain covering Berezino, look into my ACOG and barely see shit. Then I look into my binocs and I can see the beauty that Berezino is.

Everything is so clear, everything rendering, I can see people on the construction site as if they are only 100 yards away.

But it seems a little too much for some binocs.

What do you guys think?

Same distance as an LRS. So its balanced well..

I have a pristine pair in my inventory and can only see grass. Kneeling or standing makes no difference. What am I missing?

lol.. Im sorry but that was funny man.

Look up. Serious.

You can only use them standing. And by default when you pull them out you are staring at your feet. This combats going back and forth quickly from bino to weapon.. and people would abuse the hell out of that so its good the devs thought of it first if thats even what happened ;). Shows insight, or a lack of in the case of bugs. So to summarize all you have to do is pan up, or look up/lift your fists and you will see the vast distance that is Chernarus.

First thing I tried. Can't pan up past the grass, free look or otherwise. When I put them away I'm staring at the sky.

You need to raise your "fists," in this case the binocs, by hitting spacebar.  It's really buggy, I don't think it's intentional as Irish is implying, it's just that your point of vision is through the binocs regardless of if they are raised or not.

Some times you raise your fists and they don't actually go up either, in which case you need to try to take a step forward, that should fix it and pop them up proper.

As for the magnification I think it's fine really.  Maybe they'll eventually add different types of binoculars with varying degrees of zoom but for now I don't see an issue, and it provides a nice balance against LRS as mentioned.

If you legitimately have that issue, then I am confused to how such a things to happen, and hope it gets fixed.

Otherwise, one of the main reasoning behind these binoculars is that it allows those with out a previously "rare" LRS to look at things from a distance. Even now, I no longer need a mosin or my shitty 2x zoom to look at things. I have these beautiful binoculars, and I can still use my shotgun, crossbow, M4, or whatever I have with out sacrificing the ability to look at things from far away.

Despite having to stand up, which I hope gets fixed, I think its a lot less inconspicuous and less threatening then aiming a mosin.

Sometimes when you pull them out and raise them they don't raise properly and you get stuck looking at the ground and can't move the view. But if you equip them, raise them and then move a little in any direction before looking into them the view will then go to the correct position and you can then look into them and move the view around.

Edit: Oh looks like Bororm beat me to it.

Pro-tip: If you're not holding the binocs with both hands when you raise them, move around a bit and you'll be able to use them correctly. Or else you just get to look at the ground.
