andrewjs 11 Posted April 26, 2012 It would be nice to not look so threatening all the time, maybe cutting down on some of the unnecessary killing. Also getting to the top of ladders is always a scary situation because your guy pulls out the pistol when he gets to the top and I've fallen off a few times.
bodycount 83 Posted April 26, 2012 I have seen this implemented on the life servers without even needing to download a mod for it to happen. Not sure how it works but you can holster/unholster pistols on the non mod requirement life servers.
oktyabr 53 Posted April 26, 2012 Yup, in fact I think it should be mandatory for climbing ladders and then you have re-arm with the weapon when you get up/down (not automatic).
gobbo (DayZ) 6 Posted April 26, 2012 I have seen this implemented on the life servers without even needing to download a mod for it to happen. Not sure how it works but you can holster/unholster pistols on the non mod requirement life servers. It works by removing the pistol from the inventory, which opens that script to exploitation (carrying 2 pistols). Which would be the reason why we didn't implement such a script yet. We'll try to figure something out, though.
trauma.au 14 Posted April 26, 2012 As for ladders I don't climb high ones with out a primary weapon out, when you have a primary you transition much faster at the top.
mxphilipp@gmx.de 1 Posted April 26, 2012 Question is, will you only be able to holster it or will you also be able to lower it?I know it's a problem in ARMA that you can't lower sidearms, but I would not want to holster my gun when talking to someone, as I'd feel very vulnerable. Some way to lower the sidearm should be implemented. {Op4}Mcface 0 Posted April 26, 2012 If you want to appear friendly without actually putting the pistol away, tap G twice, once to bring the gear menu up, and once to get out of the menu.your character will do some animation where he puts the pistol towards the sky with both hands, rather than pointing it straight. It's not like a bandits gonna whip out his revolver after spending all his mac-10 ammo. He'd have to dig around in his backpack during a combat situation. Nekosan 20 Posted April 26, 2012 To be honest I find it frustrating that I can't sacrifice backpack space or whatever for the ability to carry another weapon, I'd like to give up 15 slots in my Alice and be able to carry a crossbow or something.

Guest Suffocation Posted April 26, 2012 You can put a weapon in your backpack... You just need 12 (or roughly) slots free then you can dump it in there...
grounddog 12 Posted April 26, 2012 I have fallen off ladders quite a few times. Couple fatal, couple giving me bad injuries.I think this could be only fixed when the ladder climbing itself wouldnt be so ass broken. Even sometimes trying to go down ladders is a pain in the ass. Because it doesnt want to show you the option to do it. Worst is when you need to do it fast.
bodycount 83 Posted April 26, 2012 I think main weapons take up ten backpack slots and secondary firearms take up seven?

falcos 6 Posted April 29, 2012 CLY Holsterhttp://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=13554 Description:It seems that a script like this could be useful for some people so here is a simple sidearm holstering script that I made for an SP mission. The script remembers the sidearm's classname and leaves the magazines intact. In theory it should work in team switching and respawn missions. There are a lot of player that ask how do they put away there hand gun as well as there riffle I feel this would benefit stand off when players meet I.e I see a guy he don’t trust me so ill put my gun away or down that may help the situation. So I think am right in saying that Celery is a Dev for dayz? If so this is his own stuff so am sure wont be an issue.

tk300 0 Posted April 29, 2012 as from the staff said, you could carry 2 weapons with this solution.i really can't understand why BIS didn't add the ability to lower pistols^^and i think it wouldn't even be a big thing to add this function with an update... K3nny (DayZ) 1 Posted April 30, 2012 Doesn't a double-tap on ctrl lower your weapon? (don't know if only the player itself sees it)
Grant Hammerhoof 0 Posted April 30, 2012 Doesn't a double-tap on ctrl lower your weapon? (don't know if only the player itself sees it)Not when you have a pistol out. Only works for rifles. However when you have a pistol' date=' you can press [G'] (default) to check gear, and when you crouch, you'll raise the pistol up to the side. Kinda works in its place--but you have to press [G] every time you want to lower it--and when you stand up, the pistol is raised again.
