n1kko 326 Posted May 7, 2014 (edited) So here I was wondering to do with my character after being rubber banded to the top of the ATC and falling to my death.... again. Here is what I came up with: A minimalist, no backpack, no storage containers, just the pockets your clothes have (Med Kits are acceptable). That means 18 slots total, 20 if you use TTsKO. You will be surprised how much of a challenge it is, and you will also be surprised with how little gear you can survive with. I have been playing this character since early this morning ~10 hours, and I have yet to die. I've come close many times, but I'm still kicking. Here are a few stats and a screen of my character:Kills: 4People detained, robbed, and let go: 6Robberies gone bad: 3Players seen with no contact made: Lost count after about 20 or so.Total Distance traveled (rough approximation based off the iZurvive app): ~69,000m thats 3 hours 50 minutes full on Kenyan Sprinting, or 6 hours 22 minutes normal runNumber of servers played on/average population: 3/25 players And the screenshot: Edited May 7, 2014 by aimbot.eXe
captain_finnish 134 Posted May 7, 2014 Nice. But if someday bullet goes trough your vest, you will have a bad time.
n1kko 326 Posted May 7, 2014 Nice. But if someday bullet goes trough your vest, you will have a bad time. Exactly. Your gear is way more valuable with the limited amount you have, thus making you think before every action to engage.
hiniberus 122 Posted May 7, 2014 I think the courier bag should be acceptable, it's only logical to have a container to allow surplus items :3 mind you, I specify courier bag, not improv backpack. How one stick can make that is silly.
Bororm 1156 Posted May 7, 2014 (edited) This is how I used to play, now I use an unupgraded courier bag usually, but I still go pretty minimalist. I wear jeans and a check shirt, with a holster. And no shoes of course =P You really don't need to carry food and especially not water.I prefer shotguns and pistols. It's fun! Also rocked this set up for a bit early on. Sorta a "just rolled out of bed" and had time to grab his holster/hat kinda theme. I used to dig carrying a protector case in my pants for the extra 2 slots and then calling it my lunch box. I liked it better before they patched it, where you had to pull it out to take things out. I'd set it on the ground and pull out my snacks =P Edited May 7, 2014 by Bororm
n1kko 326 Posted May 8, 2014 Still rolling on this character. I've been killing bambi slayers alllll day with my Mosin, and on the server I play on, they have refered to me as "The Dark Knight" lol
hannibaldaplaya 1095 Posted May 9, 2014 Something is just very attractive about not having a truckload of military surplus on your back. I always roll with this kind of stuff, unless I have to have extra space.
Karmaterror 982 Posted May 9, 2014 I did this a while ago, you really don't need a backpack to survive atm. Hopefully when they make us need more tools to survive they will become more essential :) Check out that thread http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/174183-is-a-backpack-a-necessary/ and if you get bored of having top tier gear... http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/180206-gear-for-laughs/ :D
Golden Child 73 Posted May 9, 2014 Whenever I play i normally gather an improvised courier bag, and keep a handgun, canteen, and my melee weapon in there so I have no play with minimal resources, it makes it so i have to continuously travel if I want to eat and survive, oh and my trusty .22 :)
real meatshield 424 Posted May 9, 2014 If I wasnt in the habit of carrying surplus weapons/ammo/gear for fallen teammates, I think I could pull it off with a minimum of effort. I like the all black kit though... sporting the black pants atm but havent seen a black tactical shirt in any condition in ages.
Bororm 1156 Posted May 9, 2014 Go for the normal "black shirt." It's like a check shirt, but black. Pretty rare and extra style points!
qww 287 Posted May 9, 2014 it is not a challenge to survive with a weapon, and 18 inventory slots.
