New audibility mechanic in 1.7.2?

Have asked this a couple of times in the pending 1.7.2 thread but have had no response, so posting here, as it's still bugging my ass off.

* [FIXED] Infected hear perfectly through objects (noise reduced by 50% through an object)

I don't understand this. How was sound checked before? (i.e. how is it now in 1.7.1.5?)

What about if you're behind a low wall/fence? Does the sound get reduced even if they can/should be able to see you over the object?

What about trees? How much of a tree/shrub do you need to be behind to have your sound reduced?

What about in buildings? If you're on the inside of an exterior wall and a zombie is on the outside is it really logical to expect they could still hear you sneaking around inside a building, from the outside? Does the effect stack through multiple walls?

Does the effect stack through multiple objects at all?

Does the effect take into account the density of the object? (e.g. audibility through a a bush vs audibility through a solid concrete wall)

I don't mean to be rude I'm just trying to understand the mechanic.

I think what Rocket is trying to address is the fact that an object had NO effect on audibility. It was as if there was nothing in the way.

I also think this is meant for indoors or walls. If you run indoors, a nearby zombie could hear you and come investigate.

Let's say you make 2 bars of audibility outside, and zombie can hear you from 10 meters away.

If you're inside with 2 bars of audibility, a zombie could only hear you from 5 meters away

You're sound is cut in half inside if a zombie is outside, herp derp solid walls

What's the point of saying "Infected hear perfectly through objects" then?

Did they not hear perfectly through them before?

He's saying he fixed this problem - the problem of Infected being able to hear through objects.

"Infected hear perfectly through objects" is what has been fixed, that is how it is now

The Part in ( ) is what it will be like after the Patch

Ah ok, that makes a lot of sense. But my other questions still stand, does the effect stack? Is there a consideration for different types of objects? How is this effected over distance?

Just give us ACRE and it will solve all the communication issues :)

Agreed implement the ACRE system into the ingame radios PLEASE !!!
