BadAsh (DayZ) 1513 Posted May 7, 2014 I want it in the game, but I think it does need to be pulled back a little bit. I think 1 bullet = 1 ruin item is a pretty fair balance. That is a bit on the weak side. A bullet could easily go through several things in a backpack. So 2-4 items would be more fitting depending on the caliber. pilgrim* 3514 Posted May 7, 2014 My british miltary carry-vest goes from pristine to damaged from a minor zombie hit.. but the info says its made of specially strong canvas.. so I CANT use the sewing kit to repair it back to worn, because its too tough for me to be able to repair it. So what did this zombie lady DO to it? She made holes with her teeth and her fingernails that I cant repair? (wow).

I think 4 is a bit much, especially if it's random. What if you have two pistols and two morphine shots in there and all that gets ruined?I think 3 things being destroyed per bullet should be a maximum with slight chance, on hardcore maybe more things should be destroyed. Anyway glad to see people recognize this is a big stupid issue. The only problem is that when they make this game difficult, as in less cans of food everywhere if you see some geared up dude you know you're only going to destroy at best 3 cans of food if you kill him, so everything being destroyed is good in that it will make people consider how much of the limited supply they're destroying.Maybe they could make it so that zombies just get attracted to the dead body? So you can't just kill someone and safely get their 10 cans of food there's some risk involved, when zombies don't take just one bullet to kill anyway/ It's still just too broken right noq though.I think everything in your pants should be safe from zombies at least, they never hit your legs so it's stupid that they get destroyed at all, then you could just keep morphine there. i think it is a good suggestion that randomised % of items within ruined clothing get ruined, why dont you bring it to the suggestion forum, op I'm looking through this thread hours later, I'm sure someone else will have by now? Thats ok for a backpack but pretty tough for pants, jacket or vest though.

Honestly this topic has been talked about a lot with suggestions made and as I said earlier it's just another case of them implementing a system and not tweaking it yet, which will likely come in beta. That is their whole purpose of the alpha currently, to implement systems/mechanics and then they work out the bugs/fine tune/balance later. This is also why they don't give a fuck about gun accuracy currently. We'll probably see the same issues with things like cooking, building, vehicles and all those major additions. Yeah but we're still playing this game right now, we still gave them their money so they should add least add some working features in so we can enjoy testing it for them fully. Bororm 1156 Posted May 7, 2014 I agree, I think they could prioritize better to make it a more enjoyable process for the players. I'm just saying though, I really don't think they care (yet) and I wouldn't get your hopes up. I don't mean to discourage you or the conversation.
blacklabel79 949 Posted May 7, 2014 Sidequestion. I had the Feeling that a pressvest filled with books offers alot better protection. Same with uppergarment/throusers, filled with books seem to help. Is that just a suspicion of mine or actualy true in Terms of damage intake ? *confused**
Guest Posted May 7, 2014 My friend got shot by one mosin bullet and got knocked unconscious. After he woke up, his shirt, helmet, backpack, pants, and weapons were all ruined...So basically everything. From one bullet... Its like a bomb is hitting you
Wili 156 Posted May 7, 2014 I would like something like this, imagine that's a Dayz Backpack, and the red and blue trails are bullets going trough the backpack. The blue bullet would destroy 3 cans of food and banana and maybe damage a bit the melee weapon. The red bullet would destroy the rice and one refresh can. The backpacks surface would be to be divided into quadrants, depending on how much slots the backpack can carry.
ZomboWTF 527 Posted May 7, 2014 i doubt this will stay like it is now also with the "entire ammo stack ruined" thing, which is only avoidable through using a bug atm a single bullet cant possibly destroy more than three items in a backpack, or a full ammo box worth of ammo maybe in this stage it is too excessive on server performance use to make bullets only hitting a single object in the backpack, or randomizing which storage slot gets hit, or it is not important for the devs right now, which i would understand
