Which bullets are bigger/do more dmg?

Recommended Posts

So i have been searching around for a little while for information about the different calibers and pistols in dayz, and i havent found much.

Ive manually checked the information about pistols on the dayzdb website, however according to that there are no differences between the 4 sidearms, and i dont get it.

So if you could be kind and explain the correct information or guide me to it, that would be great.

What i am looking for basically is like, the diffence between firing acaps or 9mm or 22mm not being a gun nut, i have no freaking idea.

.357 magnum is biggest (smaller projectile than the .45), higher velocity, ultimately it hits with the highest kinetic energy.

.45 is the next heaviest hitter. Slowest speed of any hand gun round (maybe close in speed to .22) but because of the projectiles weight it has considerable power.

The 9mm handguns I don't know too much about in-game. Probably highest velocity round and so it would make sense for it to also be the most accurate.

.22 is a little baby round with very little stopping power. But because of the small charge, it is also pretty quiet.

.45 ACP or 9mm would definitely be the way to go. Being almost the same round, I usually choose .45 ACP because the FNX is much more accurate. .22 is a sporting round, and while the Amphibia is internally silenced, as a result it does little to nothing as far as damage goes.

the .22 will blow heads clean off. try it next time you get in a firefight. one shot one kill

This guy is lying. The .22 is a sporting round and is shit in a firefight.

He didn't specify what you'd be in a firefight with though, so technically he isn't. I would say this is accurate if you got into a nasty firefight with a crazy rabbit.

I can attest to this. .22 rounds are much, MUCH bigger than some puny ".50" bullet. Sporter currently does the most damage in the game. (However, put some distance between you and your target, .22s are effective to around 600 meters.)

.357

then Mosin/Blaze-ammp (7.61x51)

.45ACP

5.56 (M4)

But I'm not sure about the 56.1 and the .45, though.

IMO if you're looking at damage, .357 is probably the highest in game right now with the Magnum, then probably the M1911 (I'm speculating as the magazine has only 7 bullets compared to the 'standard' 15 bullet magazines the other pistols possess), FNX45 and CR75 with its 9mm, and lastly the 22 Amphibia S.

In all likely hood, the M1911 is probably the same damage as the FNX45, though if that's true it needs to be amended immediately.  If they're the same damage and you can equip a red-dot sight on the FNX45, why would you ever handicap yourself with less ammo per magazine and only iron sights?

Gun/bullet damage is honestly all over the place right now.  I took a mosin shot right to the chest at the NE airfield one day, didn't start bleeding.  The next shot that hit me in the chest I finally started bleeding, that doesn't seem to be too accurate.  The SKS got upgraded so in all honesty they do more damage than the M4 (m4 is pretty weak unless it's against pure clothing or skin), and IMO unless I'm sniping I'd rather have the SKS, not only for the semi-auto factor, but mostly the damage and accuracy.

For a game like DayZ and in a world like DayZ, the caliber and the damage shouldn't matter, because it would not matter if the scenario was real.

A hit by a bullet is either a harmless flesh wound/graze (that's the only injury we can portray and cure realistically with the medical system we have now), or a deadly/instant death wound. The size and speed of the bullet hardly changes anything as long we do not add high-tech ballistic protection vests that wound make a difference in reality when it comes to penetration.

I wouldn't overcomplicate things in the damage/caliber aspect.

I find the ones that hit the target to be the most effective.

Concentrate on that aspect.

Mass x velocity gives a good indicator.

Big fast thing will hurt more than small slow thing.

Bullet placement is key. Alas, that requires weapons that have dispersal that doesn't make a 17th century blunderbuss look like a sniper rifle.

Doesn't mean anything bro!

He could have been a clerk or a driver which would mean his knowledge on firearms wouldn't be any more 'specialist' than anyone with access to guns.

I've had many kills with the sporter .22 and I don't know why everyone hates it so much, lag on your end maybe?
