ProtoWasHere 1 Posted May 1, 2014 This post might likely piss some people off, that isn't the intention...TO DO:Fix the infected running through walls, floors, doors, and buildings. (Same clipping as a player.)Allow infected to climb stairs. (Pathfinding)Remove ability to see parts and pieces of players through walls they are standing behind. NOT TO DO:Radiated areas in the game?Look, I'm a fan of zombies, and the mythos behind them. Seeing as that there are no nuclear reactors, or bomb sites in the game, adding them would mess with the mystery of the game.Beyond that, this isn't RUST, or Fallout. This is DayZ. Part of the fun is not knowing where the infected came from. Not giving any more information than needed. You are dropped in the middle of nowhere, with nothing... with zombies... now... live. Then you have to worry about how how the radiation interacts with animals... killing player food and leaving the bodies in said places they can't get to gather food.It would potentially kill the zombies as well, being a good spot to 'kite' the infected through and kill them that way instead of having to engage them.Radiation suits would be needed, and adding the mechanic for that is honestly too much to ask the developers to do.Guys... think about this reasonably... DayZ has 2 very key elements. Interaction with zombies. Interaction with players.I don't think that anything that doesn't add to either of those 2 things needs to be considered so early in development... at least not as a thing that EVERYBODY has to deal with.
liquidsnake 275 Posted May 1, 2014 Radiation zones would be great, imo. An abandoned nuclear plant, left in such a hurry that the reactor wasn't disabled, which in turn exploded due to too many reactions taking place. Would be both realistic and a cool addition. I also don't think it'd ruin the mystery of zeds, because everyone knows it's ridiculous that radiation could create zombies. As for the wild life, what's the big deal? Worst case scenario, the deer I'm about to eat has a huge tumour. Well, I'll gladly eat it, since cancer isn't infectious in any way and lies within some faults in the DNA. For my stomach's concern, just some more nutritious substance. Also, radiation doesn't kill. It consists of certain particles which damage cells. The damage itself doesn't kill, but it can affect the DNA. If you're unfortunate enough to have a few genes concerning cell proliferation and anti-tumour measures, disabled by the radiation, you got cancer. Cancer is worst case scenario when radiated. I don't think cancer would even be lethal to zeds. Players, though, should get "sick" after too much radiation and die gradually (IRL this takes years). miczee 0 Posted May 21, 2014 Yes the zombies clipping through walls are highly irritating but real issue. So lets hope it gets resolved soon. I just had 2 zombies get to me in a building through the walls....lucky for me one after the other...
