Can this computer run DayZ? :)

Recommended Posts

Hello, I'm buying a new laptop and was wondering if this can run DayZ. I like laptops better so please don't tell me just to build my own.

Yes, it can. But don't expect 60 FPS constant. :P

Yeah it'll run it pretty good, processor is a bit weak though.

It should run it fine; most of those specs are comparable to (or better than) my current PC (which is listed in my signature below), and it runs the game just fine with most settings on normal, a few on high. Yes, at 2.4 GHz, the CPU does seem a little lacking, but it says it can be turboed to 3.4 GHz, which, in an ASUS-based gaming machine, shouldn't be a big issue. The only other thing I might be wary of is the mobile GPU, but it says its a GTA 860, so even as a mobile GPU it should be pretty good. Overall, I think you'll be just fine with it, especially after the game is optimized more; remember that it IS still in alpha, so there are many more game optimizations to come.

If you use the nVidia GeForce Experience to optimize games, I would leave DayZ alone there, as the optimization options are actually pretty crappy, and that laptop should be able to surpass them easily; it keeps wanting to set everything as low as possible for me, as well as knock the resolution down to 1440x900; I can run it just fine with most settings set to normal @ 1920x1200 resolution.

Just build your own, you can build a machine with almost 50% higher performance for that price.

Toss a SSD into it and you're laughing.

Do I have to take apart the computer to add an SSD? I'm kinda noobish on computers. :)

I don't like building my own. I like laptops because I can move them around. You can't really do that with a desktop. :3

Swapping/adding an SSD to a laptop is just a matter of a very small screwdriver (Torx T6, I think?) and about five minutes of your time. (;

What do you think of this one? It already comes with a built in SSD if I choose to add it. Which I will, if I decide to get it. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834231630

For a laptop, it's not bad. =)

You'll be able to play most newer games on Ultra settings and see upwards of 30 frames per second. I am not a fan of gaming on a laptop as you could get a much better value for the same money going with a desktop, but rest assured you'll be fine running current generation titles nonetheless.

Could someone maybe just recommend me a good gaming laptop because I have no idea what the fuck I'm doing, and if I need an SSD recommend that as well. :( (Note: not Alienware or Razer, they're ridiculously overpriced).

If you have a few hours, sit down and do some research. You'll more than likely find better advice/tips on sites specifically made for technology in relation to computers. The more you know, the better able you'll be to make a right purchase for you at the right price.

On that note, either laptop will run DayZ, but you probably won't be able to max out all the settings.

No need to worry, an SSD is just some additional icing on the cake. If you're already getting this worked up over it, it won't really be worth it. Really, both links are pretty fair and good so it'll run on either one c:
