Server "Authentication Timeout"

My server seems to be booting every player that connects, due to a "Timeout Authentication" error after about 20 seconds being in game. It is not appearing on the in game server browser either but it will show up if you have it in favourites(go figure).

 

Yes, I have contacted the GSP and they have escalated the issue and I am still waiting. The GSP seems like it doesn't have a clue as to what is causing the problem.

 

Anyway, I just wanted to know if anyone with some technical knowledge has an idea of what would cause this issue because it is truly bizarre. Server has been reinstalled, shutdown and rebooted many times. Sometimes it will hold some players and still kick others with the above error.

 

It is also connected to the main hive because it retains your character. Some insight would be good. Thanks!

I've never had any issues getting on your server, And it's the only hardcore one I play, However I haven't played hardcore in a few weeks, I'll see if I have any issues getting on and post here.

Hope you sort it out soon, Seems like it's something the GSP will have to fix.

I mean accept for this issue the server is pretty rock solid and this error just started happening yesterday afternoon. The only thing that shits me is that they claim the escalation could take up to 48 hours. Really!?

 

I was just hoping that someone with some technical knowledge could give some insight as to why it's happening so maybe I could give the GSP some direction on where to look.

 

Heh, I'm just pretty pedantic with server performance and rectifying any issues ASAP.

 

Edit: Well, from what the server log is telling me the server is not connecting to Steam. Hence the Auth Timeout.

Well MPGS has had no joy with this issue... We've ultimately had to go poke Mr. Hicks  ;)

 

Although my server has been down for a bit of time now I cannot fault MPGS for the support they have given, even though I had to go and poke them in multiple ways.  :beans:

I recently joined a regular server that was empty, hoping to get some NEAF loot, I was running down the hill when I got this error and thought I'd re-join again, maybe it was just a one off? But nope, had the 'authentication timeout' error again, it's a bit strange as it seems the game just freezes until you click 'ok' and then it boots you back into the server browser. Not like any other error message I've seen on DayZ before. No wonder it was empty, I just thought I had a lucky find :(

Pretty standard cold shoulder on their behalf. Its to the point that even topics started by staff and used for discussion with devs are left in dust. It just feels like "DayZ" is too old even for its creators.

Other than that... Authentication error started to be a bigger problem few years ago. First people discovered that turning off background programs could fix it - be it discord or nvidia. Then it was about resetting stuff. Then some global steam malfunction happened and some wise guys were spreading rumors that its only because of said event. Now its back to resetting and chucking fault at service providers (server owners).

One can turn off game, then launcher and finally reset steam. That will allow for logging back in. Hopefully. Fact is its nothing on users end. Its something between steam, game and battleye. These three subjects should fix it. And probably it won't happen. I mean this issue is well documented, reported multiple times and left to rot along angry players.

Thanx Nemorus its such a pitty thou i started Gatvolpve about 2 months ago,but authentication drops is making me rethink now to maybe close down and not fighting anymore
This issue makes for a not very nice game experience.
