Right Trigger Now Executes Melee Attacks

Recommended Posts

This is one of the little things they threw in and didn't mention. For those of you that use a controller, whether its via Xpadder or Motioninjoy you would know that we haven't been able to use the right trigger for melee attacks. That is no longer the case and I enjoy being able to use my right trigger for melee attacks.

Special thanks to the development team for sneaking this one in!

Woo go dev team, you have your prioritys spot on, new sewing kit, extra button for the control and a tracksuit that everyone has been asking for.

Not much of anything else though and if you take out the things that are still bugged after a month in experimental not much of anything.

i use xpadder, never had a problem with using my melee weapon...

lol yeah I've been using the xpadder with right trigger melees for 2 or 3 weeks now.

But...I did notice the new 1:1 mouse now makes the analogs much smoother and feel more like a normal console game would. I do love that!

It is odd the Op could not use the right trigger for melee until 0.44. very odd.

Can I ask you a question? What motivates you to make erroneous posts like that? A week ago you thought I was a hacker this week your about as wrong as you were then.

You mentioned 3 new things (2 if you discount the "new" sewing kit which I'm not even sure I know what your talking about, maybe I'm wrong but I seriously don't know what your referring to) when there is actually 13 new additions, 31 fixed items, and 6 bugs. Making points isn't your strong suit. Maybe this game or this forum isn't for you?

A little bit of backstory might explain this a bit better.

I was using a PS3 controller with Motioninjoy since the mod and about a month ago I finally had enough of Motioninjoy disconnecting in-game which forced me to restart my machine. What I did was reinstall Motioninjoy and coudln't get it working with the controller for the life of me. Tried every version and nothing would let me use the import button to import my assinment profile and the latest version flat out doesn't work. Tried using the forums to troubleshoot and the forums are dead.

So, I ordered a wireless receiver so I could use my wireless Xbox controller which I got about 2 weeks ago. So in all honesty, your probably right in that its been a few weeks since they snuck it in as I haven't tried to use right trigger to use my axe and only recently did this last night.

Either way, I am pleased no longer have to grab my mouse to use the axe. Also, considering I see a lot of posts that are yelling at the devs for one reason or another I figured it would be a nice opportunity to say something nice and appreciate all that they do.

the only thing that changed recently is that you have to raise your melee weapon first to swing it, just holding it in your hands wont do anything, maybe that was/is the problem you are experiencing? i dont know if they reversed it for the latest patch as have yet to go on.

cant speak for motionjoy but xpadder works really well with dayz when configured right. and im only using a logitech dual action controller (ps2 designed pc controller i bought about 10 years ago)

and i agree the 1:1 movement is good for controllers, had to turn my sensitivity down quite abit compared to before though...

No, I knew about the raising of the melee weapon when it was first introduced in experimental.

It is possible it was an issue with Motioninjoy. A friend of mine uses an Afterglow wired with no external app and he couldn't get the right trigger to trigger melee attacks.

I do remember some people in the forums a few months back complaining about not being able to melee with a controller so it was an issue at one point.

Hey it wouldn't be Eastern Europe without tracksuits.

Why would you even use a controller for this kind of game?

I like both, it depends on my mood and where I'm playing.

Also, the controller works better for when I hook my laptop to my 32" tv and want to lay back in bed to play. A keyboard and mouse are not as comfortable for super lazy gaming. I find I have to look at the keyboard from time to time and I do not have to do that w/ a controller. So it's much more comfortable when lazy'n around.

As well, I still have a sliver of free thought and tend to be open to stuff, instead of just picking one side and blindly run down the street.

Why does it matter?

On-topic, this still isn't the case for the vanilla unmapped control scheme. I still have to switch over to my mouse to hit with a melee weapon.
