Small but yet important fixes

Recommended Posts

For some reason i cant post in the bugtracker so id share some important fixes and bugs here wich i think and i have heard fr.o.m. Many others are very important to fix to improve gameplay before more bugs add up.

Here it goes

Small but important fixes to improve gameplay.

- Tweak hunger/thirst , you should not need to drink 15times in a row from a well to get hydrated, nor eating 5 cans to get rid of the hunger icon, also you should be able to go longer without being hungry/thirsty.

- Make Suppressor's/silencers work.

- Fix the random zombie/drink sounds from ambiets sounds/animals etc.

- Fix slow UI (you sometimes need to press the actionbuttons 1-3 times to get a response, and they are delayed and funky)

- Fix Binoculars/sniper scopes (some backpacks cant be used with scopes you see the backpack in the sights) and binoculars Only works standing up.

- Tweak bullet/melee damage to clothes and items inside the clothes (one bullet shoulnd't ruin a vest and all items in it, maybe make the vest damaged and ruin one of the items in the vest, certianly not all 6 items since i dont think a bullet would hit all items at the same time)

- Fix ACOG magnification level that is only 1.65x now(bugged) to 4x as it should be

- When you drop a item/weapon on a floor/near a window, the item/weapon falls outside the house/window(s) or down to the other floor(s)

I always have a problem with jumping/vaulting over fences. It seems to either not work or very delayed.

Silencers need specific ammo to work properly, and the ammo isn't even in the game yet so I don't see them working until the silencer type ammo is included.

I'd like an option at a well to be able to drink until no longer thirsty....even if it takes the animation a long time.

-snip-

Small but very importan fix to improve your forumactivities:

+ try search the board/bugtrackr before posting in the wrong section

all points 'r reported/known "issues" with several threads to discuss.

I like pressin buttons several times to get hydrated, it's like sippin. What is if i ate a lot, go to a well and press "drink until hydrated" but i get stuffed after 1sec?

Those are all good fixes OP but I suggest you check the bug tracker as a lot of that is already reported. If not then please make a report and link to it.

Few, if any of these, are "small" fixes in terms of effort.  They are, however, small in terms of their degree of impact on actual game play.  (You've admitted this in the title of your post.)  These are optimizations, tweaks, and bug fixes for secondary and tertiary game components.  Early Alpha is about getting primary components in place and functioning properly.  If this was beta or full release you'd be right to elevate them for attention, however this is early Alpha.

Silencers Suppressors need specific ammo to work properly, and the ammo isn't even in the game yet so I don't see them working until the silencer type sub sonic ammo is included.

This is wrong if referring to IRL. You can use standard loads with a suppressor. The muzzle flash and report of muzzle blast will be reduced significantly however, since the bullet is still traveling faster than sound, it will still make the crack sound as it passes you by. Basically you know you got shot at, but much harder to distinguish from where. So in all actuality, they could add in the suppressor functionality even with standard NATO ball ammo.

The best approach would be a tiered system of suppressed weapons as follows:

Standard ammo + No Suppressor= Full sonic "boom/crack" in flight and muzzle blast report.

Standard ammo + Suppressor = Full sonic "boom/crack and much quieter muzzle blast.

Sub Sonic Ammo + Suppressor= No Sonic "boom/crack", reduced range, and even quieter muzzle report.

Sub Sonic Ammo + no suppressor= No Sub "boom/crack", reduced range, and only slightly reduced muzzle report.

The one exception to above is .45 ACP. Sub sonic ammo is not needed for the .45 ACP  because standard military 230gr FMJ rounds are sub sonic already. Only special self defense loads in .45 ACP travel faster than the speed of sound i.e. Cor-Bon 185gr JHP.

Far as how that is implemented in the Engine, I have no idea. I am not a game programmer by trade. We Will probably need to use Sub Sonic ammo with suppressors much like the mod. Will be interesting to see which way they take it.
