Wasn't this stable branch alot more stable in experimental?

Recommended Posts

Hey, has anyone else who played a lot of 0.44 when it was in experimental found that the build is a lot less stable now it has been released to all the stable servers? Before I was getting 0 rubber banding and the game played smooth as hot butter, and that was on 100 man servers. Now im actually rubberbanding pretty hard on 40 man servers.

Have I just been unlucky or can someone verify/explain this? Cheers

Yes!!!!

It WAS waaay more stable on Exp. Dunno why or what changed. I played on the 100, 75 and 60 person servers..with NO problems...ok one server with Hicks on it..bombed but that was it. Now the Stable 40 player servers DO NOT seem to run near as smooth.

Just as a heads-up, individual servers also can cause rubberbanding. It's not just because of the patch.

Yes.. it appeared to run much smoother for me on much larger and full servers.

Last night I could only find a 10 man server with reasonable ping to play on.. nothing larger, and my rubberband was almost like it used to be before the patch. Not much seemed changed on stable for me vs exp except for night cycle and mouse smooth. The other stuff almost seemed to be taken out compared to how it was in exp the past few days.

Well, we dont know the difference between the official experimental servers hardware, and what the GSP's are using tbh.

One could speculate that the experimental servers are more powerfull because:

  1. Theres a limited number of them, so its easier and cheaper to maintain them?
  2. BI is in direct control of these servers and might run them a tad bit differently, then the GSP's, for testing pusposes?
  3. We have no garantee that ALL of the GSP's are using the exact same hardware as the experimental servers, not to mention the resource amount (ie. several server instances running on each box, with x cores and x ram dedicated to it)

I want to add, i havent set foot on experimental at all yet, so i only have the stable branch to talk from, and i stick to a very limited amount of servers, which i know are running awsome with next to no lag/desync and no rubberbanding.

Well, as low a ping as possible, obviously. I never ever join anything above 70 ping :)

Every time i log on, i wait for everything to load, it does seem to take abit longer in .44 though.

Once loaded i run like the wind for at least 30 secs.

If i dont rubberband, i add the server to favorites basicly, i find this to be a very good sign.

Thats the general "routine" i use to find a good server and then i stick to it.

Ive got 3 servers in my favorite atm and i dont have any trouble with them.

I also tend to find servers of "medium" population, 15-25, simply because theres less people joining and leaving.

Joining and leaving a server is the number one cause of desync and lag, it was the same in the mod, thats basicly why theres a 500 sec timer now :)

I generally stick to official servers that have their country of origin in the title, such as "DayZ UK 2-124" and have a low ping. This prevents abuse from badmins that reset your character on joining. Also I found that some countries seem to have much more reliable performance than others. This is different for each individual, even my friend who lives near me experiences different problems on different servers. Servers with player counts below maximum usually have less people joining and leaving.
