Can log onto official servers but not Unofficial/private hives

Recommended Posts

So i can log onto public servers and dayz works fine but any servers in dayz commander with the little cloud with an x in it i cant log into. I cant get into any unofficial servers period. Game will load up and just say connecting failed. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling everything including clearing my registry of any arma entries. Everything mod related is installed through dayz commander and is up to date. Im using win 7 64 bit, i-5 4670k cpu, msi z87-g45 mb.  beta patch 103718

Did you make sure you actually have the mod downloaded you need for that exact server? There are different mods than just the one DayZ Mod and you always need to match the correct one.

Yes, i have dayz version 1.8.0.3 which is what most every server should be running anyway. In the past if i had the wrong mod version i would get a message from the server that i was running an incorrect version. Also in dayz commander the servers im trying to join are running 1.8.03 when i look under the version tab . Keep in mind that im only referencing stock dayz chernarus map. Disregard any addon maps like lingor, fallujah, battle royale etc etc. even though i cant get on those either. Also im running beta 103718 and can log onto official public servers like us3480 no problem whatsoever.

When you go your main menu of DayZ, does it say 1.62.xxxxxx or 1.63.xxxxxx for the Arma version?

The "problem" lies in the betas mate.

Some servers have updated to the newest, but the newest is the 1.63 Arma II AO beta, which isnt backwards compatible with any other, so you are only able to log into the server which is running it, but not the ones which is running an older version.

In fact nobody should run with the new betas, as DayZ isnt designed for them and could potentially break, but people do it anyway.

EDIT:

Just looked it upo, the beta you have is 1.62 as far as i can see, so i would assume the servers you cant join are running the 1.63 beta patch.

BI really did fuck it up abit there for the end game user tbh, but its down to the server owners to not update it, unless specifically told to by the mod developer, and since vanilla hasnt gotten any updates for a very long time, you are using the right beta patch for that, but it appears the server isnt.

You can update your beta patch, but some of the new updates could potentially break the mod, thats why it isnt advised.

Is it possible for you to see the Arma II version of the server you want to join?

You can download the Arma II OA patches manually from here: http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php

i found a workaround, if i launch dayz/arma manually and copy and paste the ip from dayz commander into the arma server browser i can join the same server that would NOT let me connect through dayz commander. Dont ask me why. It seems it could be a dayz commander problem and not a problem with the mod or arma. No idea why the game would load one way and not the other. Case in point the server was SM survival grounds, 162.248.92.227:2302 was the ip. Would absolutely not load with dayz commander.every time i tried i would get the connecting failed errror message. I pasted the ip into arma myself and it worked normally. Played for an hour and a half no hiccups. Its a pain to have to do that but at least i got it to work even if it is not ideal.
