Extreme griefing with barbed wire.

Recommended Posts

Im getting so tierd of this excessive griefing, Players intentionally put up unremovable barbed wire in many loot spots, not only high tier. Theres gotta be a easier way to remove these things, As it is now u have search like a maniac for this 1 little spot to remove them.

And in many cases the cant even be removed because they are placed in a way where u cant go around it, Only way is to server hop and loot the place, then server hop again and thats so lame.

Hope we get a solution for this soon. // Anand.

i have to agree.if barbed wire just ment u had to step over it,it would be oke as someone camping that building would get some xtra time to shoot at u while u cant approach him.but often they set it up in such it a way that it just bugs out and u cant step over it.often making hangars inaccesable for everyone but the serverhopping douche that set them up.

and since it doesnt rly add much to dayz(i can see how sandbags and barbed wire r great in arma but they serve alot less purpose in this mod)and u only ever see em set up by people that r trying to glitch them, its prob a good idea to remove them completely(or ban start banning serverhoppers)

The only bug is that you CAN step over them because they fall slightly below the ground..

well that and they always pop back up with server restarts

EDIT: also the obligatory response to use 1st person and aim at one of the middle silver poles to get the "Remove wire(cat1)" option

Got barbed wire on me, I wonder if I should use it to prevent bandits entering this building and killing me....nah it might make somebody angry later.

Yeah, all barbed wire should be hoppable-overable. I was on a server yesterday where pretty much every building in Cherno/Elektro was wired shut. Kinda dumb.

I think players should be able to stomp down barbed wire and step over it and drag hedgehogs around. This way you could assure they would only be used as zombie fortifications.

Barbed wire should be easier to remove and also able to step over even at full hight.

That way it slows down a player rather than outright denies them.

Tank traps should not be placable indoors. They are for denying vehicles.

Immensely irritating when freshly spawned, but when you get a toolbox it is really no problem. Is it just me or is toolboxes much more common loot now anyway?

I'm going to go look for a ton of barbed wire and then wire off a spawn point.

I don't agree, I've yet to ever see a toolbox....

As far as the barbed wire goes, I have had many instances where I was blocked off by wire, and it's also gotten me killed when I made a mad dash into a building only to run into wire and all the zeds on my ass ate me. I've tried jumping over wire and I'm never able to do it, and zombies glitch through it with ease, so barbed wire is just a massive piss off....

On my group's server, someone keeps placing about 8 spools of wire through the barracks entrance, and I have removed it all every time I have been up there, nearly dying in the process, only for it to respawn on server resets.

JUST VAULT OVER IT>>>>>>> JEZUS

I have yet to see a single player placed obstacle you cannot vault over.

-Tank Spikes

-Barbed Wire

-Sand Bags

-Park Benches

ALL CAN BE NEGOTIATED WITH THE "V" KEY.

Yesterday I saw barbedwire placed length ways across the narrow corridor in the comms tower on green mountain. If i didn't have a toolkit there was no way I was getting past that.

I had the same thing in some barracks :/

In terms of traps, maybe the grenade/smokegrenade wiretraps would he good. They would be one use however. IMO they should at least make it so zombies can't get through it, and it should not respawn once removed. If it can be vaulted over then I see no problem with that

I was in a barracks, it had barbed wire in front of it, as well as inside, it also had tank spikes in the hall way... You know how small the passage way in the barracks is right?

Suffice to say I have had no issues with the player placed obstacles...

QQ some more, maybe it will make them go away! :)

Sometimes the barbed wires can be pretty much impossible to get past, at least if there's multiple placed in certain ways. One time when I tried vaulting over some it resulted in an instant loss of ~10,000 blood.

I see people suggessting that anti-personel barbed wire should easily be walked over by players.

I'd like to take it one step further and let players eat barbed wire and tanktraps as emergency rations in case they find themselves in the middle of nowhere without food.

Also, I think that if you have barbed wire in the inventory when killed, it will revive you, like a phoenix down potion in Final Fantasy.

while funny, your response is unrealistic. lay some anti-personnel barbed wire out on the ground and try to get past it in a real setting - you will find that you are more than able. the rub is that it will delay you significantly.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Concertina_wire

while VERY hard to get past in the "triple" configuration, a single coil won't do a hell of a lot as an obstacle.

Just make players flexible like zombies...they get through the barbed wire just fine! I've been on 5 or so servers throughout today, and all of them had some loot locations barbed wired off...really annoying. Maybe tie the barbed wire to the player, so when he logs off the wire goes away after 5 minutes? or until someone "saves" it (for bases, etc).

Everyone is so dumb when addressing this problem.

The answer is fucking simple people. Wtf have you all been smoking?

Player places barb wire or whatever.

Player leaves that server. Barb wire or whatever goes with them.
