Elektro. Seriously don't join the clusterfuck that is berenzino or solinchy. When you spawn turn so the sea is on your left and run down the main road. You will eventually reach elektro. Loot the school and market for general supplies, the fire station and police station for weapons and the hospital for medical shit. Then you can head up north and begin actually surviving and interacting with less trigger happy xenophobic fuckwits who sit on hills around coastal towns.

Seriously, I was away for a while (Epoch cured my SA addiction) and when I jumped back in I was like, what the hell, everyone in Elektro moved to Berezino?!

 

The amount of players (and bandits camping inside the buildings) is too damn high compared to the old "Elektro days". Bodies everywhere, loot is scarce (except some handguns on police cars which are not so easy to spot), shots fired every couple of minutes. Still there are a lot of friendly players around, however bandits are usually in groups and are able to ambush, trap, or outmaneuver them and bring them down easy even if they team up. Just yesterday I came across four different bandit groups on three different servers. It was crazy. 

 

By the way, just in case: Hey, you bandit guys, the ones we (as fresh spawns) chased all the way from Berezino to Rify: Seriously, it took you two players with an axe and a shovel, a third one with a sporter rifle and 20+ rounds and about five whole minutes to bring me down? I had just one pickaxe ffs, get your act together! :D

Well, at least you helped buy some time for the rest by leading them that far out of town. :)

 

A couple of times I headed to Electro on populated servers expecting to find bandits and it being all quiet... But Berezino/Svet? Jeez! Suicidal to get near there on some servers.  My goal as a fresh spawn is to try and get some food into me and hydrated, enough to get me to Vybor, maybe finding some useful gear on the way. Vybor has the police station, school and 2 hospitals, plus plenty of large houses to get completely kitted out enough to risk NW airfield and the nearby military base to the SE.

Svetlojarsk spawns pretty good loot, high north on eastcoast.

Me and my friends found each other and headed inland away from all the crazies on the coast. Doing so we actually found a airfield larger than Bulota and it had loot for days in it. I ended up getting a SKS with 120 rounds, FNX with 80 rounds, military gear (camo, vest, and hunter backpack) and some food. We have only seen one person inland and sadly he killed me but there's fewer people inland. Then we headed to Zelenogorsk and it wasn't as promising as we hoped. Only a couple barracks, hospital, jail, and police station. If your confident enough I suggest heading inland because you will find stuff eventually but there are a few more zombies we think.

Maybe my server list just isn't the same as others, but the average population of the servers I see/join is right around 6-10 people.

 

Spread out over 200+ square Km...

 

That said, I ran to the airfield west of Grishino last night and got lots of great gear. Particularly a 35-slot backpack, an 8-slot tactical shirt, a 12-slot tactical vest, and two 10-slot ammo boxes. :beans:

Buildings...  Loot tends to be spawned in buildings. ;)

Learn the types of buildings that have loot. Google and review what the following look like and where they are. Randomly running into every building you see is not only a crap shoot (most buildings have nothing but rotten fruit or hats) and not the quickest way to gear up. Learn to zero in on the reliable locations, the ones that nearly always have loot, which are:

1. Police Stations (usually guns and ammo)
2. Fire Stations (guns, ammo, and fire ax spawn location!)
3. Police car trunks (usually ammo)
4. Corner buildings in city blocks where guns almost always spawn on 2nd floor in the bedroom
5. Grocery Stores or Markets
6. The house with a grand piano (usually weapons or guns there)
7. Airfield and military locations

Don't go to Berezino. Just a bunch of COD kids there. I once wandered Berezino hearing ALOT of gunshots to find a red flare laying on the ground behind some apartments...obviously it was a trap. I ended up sneaking into one of the buildings which happened to be the right one. You wouldn't believe how many dead guys were in there. Bandits, Heroes, Bambis. It was like something out of a slasher movie. Noone was alive. There was ruined gear strewn about all over the place. Half used medical supplies, ruined bandages, alcohol, cantines, guns, ammo boxes. A couple of armies duked it out in there. You don't want to be involved in that when your just starting out.

And a lot of industrial buildings means if it's not looted already you will find a lot of good gear. And it's so far up north is not overpopulated.

You won't find much in these spots if the server hasn't restarted any time recently. These are almost always picked over while you can sometimes find pistols and rifles in the houses that supposedly "Only have hats and rotten bananas."

In my last three lives, the SKS/Mosins I found were never once from any of these locations. As I said, if the server hasn't recently restarted they are picked over. If you want something like an AKM I believe they ONLY spawn in barracks right now.
