DayZ gets scary when you are playing at 3 AM.

I was at the Old Fields and made my way over to the Devil's Castle. I actually had a hard time finding it because I thought it was going to be in the old location from the DayZ Mod but it got moved down. After a while of checking the DayZ Map page from tabbing out, I finally found it.

 

40/40 server so I was kind of freaked out making my way into my castle the first time. I heard some zombie making noises so it started following me. I ran around looting the little sheds near the castle then finally went up the giant castle tower. It was getting really creepy for me because I thought someone was up there. Once I checked and found out nobody was up there I started to come down.

 

Then I heard a "munch munch munch" while coming down the stairs. I was just waiting for a player to burst in to shoot or something. Then all of a sudden, a fucking zombie runs through the wall at full speed so I thought it was a player and I literally shit myself while my heart jumped too.

I feel like the mod is just a much more creepier game. It could be because it has some much more content. But the game seems less colorful and darker. There are a lot more night time servers. Zombies just look creepier (bigger and covered in more blood). The background music that plays i love but some people really hate it. It may be easier for someone else to explain the the DAyz mod seems more grittier and thats why i hold onto it.

Did the castle have loot? If they gave us more night time servers and put good loot in the castles i can see the scary factor rising. Player encounters in the castle were always deadly.

Devil's castle is still where it should be as far as I know, I think you came across a new unnamed castle east of old fields, I've been there once.

I've been somewhere around that castle once as I heard something like dog barking... Now that was the moment I almost shit my pants man. I know there are no dogs, must have been a zombie but honestly? That sounded like somebody was barking into a microphone. Unexpected things can scare the shit out of you.
