Weapon Disassembly

Recommended Posts

While this has already kind of happened with the M4 rifle, being able to swap parts out completely for the Foregrip, Stock, Carry Handle and so on it ties more on the customisation side.

What I'm getting at here is being able to have weapons with parts that sustain individual damage instead of an entire weapon becoming "ruined". Plus it would give players an ability to "disable" a weapon by swapping out key critical parts of said weapon or potentially "repairing" a weapon by swapping out parts in exchange (as an alternative less effective method than Weapon Repair kits).

This also functions with the idea of the rather unrealistic "hide body" feature which merely allows the body to be hidden, equipment and all to fade into the ground. Alot of people seem to use this to prevent people reclaiming their gear, so I propose the ability to dismantle or potentially damage existing weapons and gear without having to spend ammo or damage your own weapons (like constantly hitting their corpse with an Axe for example and potentially dulling or damaging your own weapon).

Some examples:

1. Lets say you kill someone who's apart of a squad who's team mates are lesser armed than the guy you killed but further away, looting the town you were in. You are heavily equipped with your personal favorite weapons and gear which just so happens to be the same weapon this one guy was carrying. His teammates are fast approaching but you don't want to carry two of the same gun (and try to juggle them around in a middle of a fire fight) and rather than destroy the gun (by hiding the body) you can remove key critical parts in effect, disabling the weapon (an example could be the M4's Barrel or Trigger Assembly or removing the Bolt from a Mosin) preventing his team from looting his body for a better weapon and preventing the original owner claiming his gear. Inversely it can also potentially trick an individual to picking up a "disabled" weapon further enforcing the need to check every weapon you pick up.

2. You encounter a body who still posses a B-95 rifle with no ammo but the stock is damaged, you take the "damaged" variant and find a new another albeit with a "damaged" barrel plus ammo. You merely swap out the damaged parts for the good parts to make yourself a functioning weapon although it won't be as good as if you repaired either damaged variant with a weapon repair kit

3. Your already well armed but encounter a firearm in a heavy traffic area, this firearm while not very good at range could still be a potential threat to you. You can disable or potentially damage said firearm by removing key parts or damaging the weapon so it's less effective.

Every gun would be like the m4 where you need several pristine condition parts for the gun to work like pristine condition instead of finding just the gun (like all other guns save for m4).

There is a lot of things inside a weapon then just 3 parts...because if you will start to dismantle SKS or ISH-12 you will find out that's another huge problem, and zombie still can walk like there is no walls...like gusts..

I wouldn't say for pristine only guns, the idea was just to swap out better conditioned parts from other guns than just swapping it. Later on I could imagine you'd never find guns in pristine condition, maybe some "parts" of them could be pristine but you'd need to tinker around and swap some parts out for better conditioned ones

I don't know, some guy could go into a city and disable ever single weapon making him undefeatable.  I mean it's hard enough finding a gun, then finding out some dick disabled it, well yeah.  If this was going to happen then gun parts would have to be relatively common.  Personally I find the idea OP though.

As if it's not hard enough already to get a properly functioning m4.

I'm not against the idea in general, but try to keep the average time investment similar.

More parts, more grind.
