3D scopes/optics

Recommended Posts

I was thinking about how possible it would be to set all the optics to be 3d scopes like arma 3(including long range scopes). Only thing I find weird about arma 3D optics is that they don't use the picture in picture technology the game has built into it. If the 3D scopes used picture in picture wouldn't that solve the issue with peripheral vision being zoomed in with the optic?

Having peripheral vision when aiming through an optic that provides an adjustable or fixed zoom is important in having natural depth perception; aim, acquire target, range, precision aim, squeeze should all be able to be done without having to drop out of your sights or pull back your zoom level.

ARMA 3 doesn't have all 3D scopes, for example the sniper scopes are 2D overlays but unlike in ARMA 2 they are transparent.

I've been thinking that we need this. Just didn't know the proper name of it.

I would like to see it in the game but Rocket says that this system uses too much perfomance.

Yes, so instead of aiming down sights causing the whole screen to zoom it will just bring up the optics and display picture on picture like the rear cam or gunner cam in Arma 3 vehicles. Doesn't really need to be 3d also, could just be an out of focus 2D overlay with the picture in picture sight giving the 3D appearance(though I don't think it is possible with the weapon/attachment system) Edited by akafugitive
