DayZ's progress is confusing me.

Recommended Posts

2-3 Months ago, I played DayZ to find it was almost unplayable, unstable, bugged out etc. Granted, it was after a messed up update that caused critical problems AND IT IS ALPHA. (oh this broken realm we are all trapped within)
So, I pick it up and play again today, thinking that it should have a BASE VALUE of QUALITY. (Welcome to the DayZ adventure book)

I proceed to a house, to find clothes I cannot pick up unless I empty the pockets of the related clothing I'm currently wearing. And I can't simply switch, i had to empty the pockets and find out how to wear trousers, all over again. (Turn to page 3 if you chose to ignore the trousers)

There are still rogue zombie SFX popping up. Not to mention the lack of functional zombies or zombie numbers.

The melee is still broken. I'm trying to hit a zombie that's got itself stuck under the barn house stair case. I try to kill it, but I'm standing there striking the stairs, wooden boxes and the floor. just when I think I have the hang of it, it still fails. I ignore the zombie and continue, confident that the zombie is so bugged that it won't follow.. I'm correct and I continue. (turn to page 73 if you survived the buggy barn)

I walk outside to see a dead guy and I take his shirt, Half my body is invisible.

This is literally the 1st 5-10 minutes of playing. I could foresee hours of mind numbing tinkering and bugs. (put the book down, if you could not find page 73 in a ~311~page book)

I'm getting the sense that no real progress is being made and that I'll be logging into dayz every month or so to find the same problems, the same lack of progress and new problems and bugs to overcome.

This is getting SUPER tedious and it's starting to become hopeless. This whole buggy game is becoming a novelty and i wouldn't be surprised if much of the Gaming community is laughing @ DayZ and not with it.

(A post Destined for the Graveyard, at least i got this off my chest )

+1

You went through the trouble of making an account to give me a +1? I appreciate that. I don't want to hate on the dev's but that alone is testament to what i'm talking about.

:(  Lets cwy together :'(

I like how you have any clue of what is going on in development by playing this alpha.

I like the game, have very little problems and features & performance are noticeably improving imo.

You may have been better off reading the announcements on the Steam Page and on these forums and listened to rocket stating not to buy the game in the first place. I have spent hours and hours on the game and have had better experiences than most other games. DayZ has always been a mess (especially the mod in the first 1.5 years and nothing ever worked as expected. The Standalone is only out a mere 4 months now and you still expect it to fix all the problems it ever had.

I suggest you take a look at the finished product rather than swearing about a product that never claimed to be perfect or even finished in the first place. If you keep those things in mind you might be able to create content that is not deemed to go to the Graveyard.

We're here to collect constructive criticism, but if you're not even taking the current state of the game into account, that feedback will always be biased.

Feel free to create feedback using the feedbacktracker and the already existing topics regarding your feedback. There are loads out there and it's not being ignored.

Take in mind, that those feedback-topics are being read and the issues are being worked on.
