Force logout at a camp?

Recommended Posts

To help counter some of the DCing in the middle of a fight, I think you should be forced to logoff at a campfire or at your own tent or you lose all your stuff. It wouldn't really stop the lame server hoppers that are just amassing loot, but it would shut down DCing to avoid death.

Does everything disappear from your character or from the campfire/tent or both? And does that mean we're forced to continue playing til we find a camping tent or a box of matches? It doesn't really seem like a sensible solution.

I like the idea of not being able to logout in certain areas, though as has been said, what about those who havent found a tent or arent able to create a campfire?

I am not sure how it could be implemented but just not being able to log out indoors might stop some issues. As for DCing in a firefight - the option proposed where your body stays in game for a length of time could solve this.

Just a simple log-out counter would do. A few games have them.

When you go to disconnect, a timer counts down from 10 seconds and then at 0 you disconnect, and you must be stationary, any movement other than just moving your mouse around to look about would cancel, and being attacked would cancel. Which means you need to find somewhere safe to stand still for 10 seconds.

If you force a disconnect, you stand still where you were for 10 seconds before you disconnect from the server, leaving you vulnerable for those 10 seconds, if you die before the timer hits 0, your character dies in that server.

Runescape actually has this, (horrible game I know), but in the Wilderness it meant you couldn't disconnect to escape danger. Took 10 seconds to either disconnect properly, or your character would wait behind for 10 seconds if you forced the disconnect.

Hey, when a system works, a system works. The only problem is if someone has a power cut or some natural event that forces them to disconnect, it could cause them to die... but that can't really be taken into consideration.
